Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
If I was one of our owners I would be thinking we have enough in the locker room to gain a promotion this season and if by Christmas we looked short in one or two areas I’d be prepared to reinvest and up my stakes in the January transfer window.

I agree that is Humpreys goes on loan then we may need another body in midfield. Aluko could play there if needed but then we lose some cover for the 2 numbers 10’s we play with.
I suspect we will bring in an attacker before the window closes, but if we don’t I’ll not be too upset.

I agree with Charny that if it were me, I would run until January as we have enough strength in depth and then invest if we are there or thereabouts. Icing on the cake would be the elusive striker but they are few and far between so lets go with what we have COYB's!

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
Too F*****G right Charners I'm well pissed off, I'll tell you what, Last season we had so-called strikers that couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo, we were F*****G useless up top, we bring back Simpson from Swindon with 15 goals scored, and we don't play him, at least give the lad a decent run out to see what he's really like, that's all the lad asked for a chance to show what he can do and KM never gave him the run out we so desperately needed, with our F*****G useless inefficient strikers that KM persisted with so naturally the lad is upset and wants a move so would I in his situation.Charnwood wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 10:01 pmAsh won’t be a happy bunny.Kerry Blue wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 9:39 pmhttps://www.twtd.co.uk/forum/540510/sim ... sfield/#18
I expect this is rubbish but thought I would post, maybe Simpson would like to play in the Huddersfield under 23s.
Well, I hope that the Lad has a good career and starts banging in the goals for the Terriers and proves his worth just like other players we have let go in the past only to prove their worth with another club.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
He wouldn't commit to the club Ash, why would anyone play him over somebody else, it sends out a terrible message and would be bad management, the squad is not all about One player.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
It isn't about one player, quite right, whether that player is Simpson, Burns, Donacien, Morsey, et al.
But we don't know the whole story with Simpson - we are told he came back from Swindon and declared he wanted a transfer, so people are naturally saying he is a petulant upstart who we are well rid of.
But - he scored 15 goals for Swindon, so what happened when he got back here? Was he spoken to by the manager about his future at the club before he made this statement? Did he expect to have such a conversation, and when it didn't happen then asked for a transfer. We don't know - like a lot of things in this club we are never told the complete story.
All I know is that if I scored 15 goals and was then told that I was behind somebody like Jackson (who averages around 1 goal every 30 games) in the pecking order then I would want out for sure.
You are quire right, Mike, to say that to play somebody who would not commit to the club in front of somebody who would is bad management. I would say that it would also be bad management not to take somebody who had scored 15 goals aside when they signalled their intention to leave and have a quiet clever conversation with them to maybe change their mind but think it was them who had arrived at the decision. Did such a conversation ever take place? Again, we simply do not know

Exactly we don't know, but I think what we do know is that KM seems a thoroughly decent, respected and good manager, I would be astounded if he didn't do the right thing by Simpson, sadly I remain pretty convinced it is Simpsons camp and his tosser of an agent that have created this scenario, but as you say, we simply don't know.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
It could well be down to Simpson's agent Mike.
It could also be that - as a rookie manager - KM had never had to deal with such a situation before and had no idea how to handle it.
Swings and roundabouts, and in this case I'm not sure if I'm going round and round or up and down.

The other thing I don't get is all the hype, he actually scored 9 goals at Swindon according to Wiki anyway, it was League Two, for me still a massive unknown if he'll actually make it at higher level.

Penney to Motherwell on loan until January, I thought someone would have bought him for a small fee.

Maybe he has to prove his worth before we can collect a fee ?… at least it’s another reduction in the wage bill.Cabanas Blue wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 6:36 pmPenney to Motherwell on loan until January, I thought someone would have bought him for a small fee.

I most certainly will be, Hallam. As soon as FIFA23 is in the stores ——->> Matt Penney emptied first game!
Seriously though. A bit spicier up here with the challenges. Hopefully Morelos doesn’t break the laddie’s leg.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
I’m not surprised . If he can recapture the first half of last season form I’d be happy …. And maintain !
Hirst hadn’t signed for anyone yet has he? So I wonder if him, on season long loan might still be a possibility as well?

Tbh I doubt he’ll cope with the extra edge in games up there marko. He’s a bit “ slight” of build tbh .

Where id you hear these rumours Blueballs?
Im a little apprehensive ref him coming back, his finishing tapered off and was pretty inaffective. Rather have nothing than him come back tbh.

No NO No no fooking way we want him back sentiment doesn't come into it and if KM signs him he will go down in my estimation as a right plonker RODNEY let him sign for Colchester BUT not us thank you.

Suspect Bonne is the backup plan if we can’t get another.
We do need one more striker and he won’t expect to walk into the team so a loan could work as cover.

I think we will be bringing in 2 more players. One signed on permanently and one a season long loan from a PL club.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
Was hoping they'd lose but the above post confirmed fears they got a result. Know not all like to discuss what they get up to but being our biggest rivals and all, was kind of dismayed to learn after being near end position in the Championship League a week or two back, they've somehow hauled their asses up to a respectable top four placing. Sunderland after promotion are going to take time to get going back in a higher league.
For those who care to remember, They put together one of the worst Cup Finals at the National Stadium you could imagine years back. Took an own goal for them to win it of all things.

Hirst off to Blackburn on loan it seems.
Matěj Vydra would be cool, but probably out of reach.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
We’re being linked with Callum Lang, ( Wigan striker). A tweet from those connected to Wigan suggest they’ve “had an offer to good to refuse”. The player was missing from their team last night, and could be on his way to Town. Looks like he knows where the back of the net is too.
