Ipswich / Leicester to both be in Championship next season.

Post by Charnwood » Mon Aug 15, 2022 4:39 pm

I just asked a bookie for odds on Ipswich and Leicester playing in the same league next season and was only offered 20/1. Does anyone else think that’s a bit mean.

200/1....., maybe consider a pound bet.

What, because they were English League Champions a short time ago. We got a relegation what, two years after Ramsey won it.

I don't see what Leicester get up to, not an area of personal interest although the aforementioned title win would have reached Alien life forms on Neptune.

There's every chance both clubs will join in a year from now, going in opposite directions on a collision course of such. Not to get too far ahead of oneself but the league start we made has provided considerable optimism and as for the Midlanders there's every chance they'll drop out the EPL and down a division. 20/1 as stated would appear questionable but different odds would be provided by various gambing organizations.

No, because there are far worse teams in the division

I think they’re pretty safe too Mike. I wasn’t actually looking to place a bet, just simply trying to find odds so I could tease my Foxes mad nephew about the chances of us playing them in the Championship next season.

That said with Schmeicel already gone, and Fofana, Tielemans, and Maddison still being persued by Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle they could come unstuck if any late deals get completed, and I’ve not even mentioned Vardy to desperate Man Utd.

Yes I don't see them troubling the European places but safety ought to be more than attainable.

Fofana has told Leicester this morning that he wants to be allowed to join Chelsea which they may well agree to if Chelsea are prepared to pay a fee which would make him the most expensive defender in the world. A record Leicester already hold after the £87m Man Utd paid for the over valued Harry McGuire.

Not bad for a 21yr old who’s only played 37 games in the Premier League. Also with the transfer window running out I think if I were Leicester City I’d be looking closely at a potential player exchange as part payment.

Fofana has now agreed terms with Chelsea and Man U look set on offering Vardy a deal he can’t refuse at age 35. Meanwhile Arsenal and Spurs have joined Newcastle in the race to sign James Maddison. Not looking good for Leicester City other than their bank balance.

Prem Table
17) Wolves 1
18) Leicester 1
19) West Ham 0
20) Man Utd 0

League 1 Table
1) Ipswich Town. 13
2) Peterborough 12
3) Portsmouth 11
4) Sheffield Wed 10

Maybe those 20/1 odds don’t look so mean after all.

Imagine what odds were available we could be playing Manchester United in the Championship a year from now. Astronomical, and then some. As much chance of Amelia Earhart being seen riding Shergar. It's ludicrous.

West Ham ? Screw them, wish them every misfortune.

It’s only a bit of fun Marko. Just hoping the table looks something similar after Christmas 🎄

This said I can’t see any team currently outside the Top 8 or even Top 6 being amongst the 3 promoted teams. Now that really would be unusual.

Yes, bit of fun i know and i know you've got a soft spot for those foxes having lived there. 👍

For me, I reckon there will be more chance of Leicester staying up, than Ipswich going up. But that could change after Ipswich play more of the ……… what is the terminology again??? …… oh yes, the “big hitters”

Yes, I would say, (strictly in my opinion) that Barnsley will be Town's first test. Very intriguing game that'll be at PR and looking forward to your thoughts on this game in the preview.

Having since posted the above reply.... shows you how much I check other results. Barnsley near the bottom and pumped 3-0 @ home to Deportivo La Wycombe @ the weekend. Still reckon it'll be a decent challenge.

If the term big hitters is to be used, arguably who is near the top now is who would no doubt be suggested pre kick off. Town, Weds, Pompey, Bolton, Posh, Derby......., Charlton a dark horse maybe?

Has the thinking switched to Leicester only? 20/1 Leicester going down?
I’d probably consider a wee fiver on that, even though I still reckon they’ll survive.

But originally it was Leicester down, Ipswich up. I’d still be looking for better than 20’s.

It’s still Leicester down Ipswich Up. Leicester City are now the bookies Joint 3rd favourites with Everton at 9/4 to be relegated, only Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest have shorter odds.

Given Town are now 4/7 favs to be promoted the best odds you’d probably get now for LCFC and ITFC both playing in the Championship next season would be circa 4/1.

What are the odds of a double relegation and us to stay in L1? Meet Leicester at this level.

I’ve no idea Tang, at a guess circa 500/1 ?
