16 points. That would be brilliant.
Anything above 2 points per game is promotion form.

1st - Portsmouth (h) - W 3-2
4th - Cambridge (h) - W 3-0
8th - Morecambe (a) - W 0-2
15th - Lincoln City (h) - W 3-1
21st - Derby County (h) D 0-0
25th - Port Vale (a) W 1-2
29th - Charlton (a) W 0-1

Oh that’s 19 points - forever the optimist. But there’s reason for it with this team

I’m wanting to go for all straight wins, but there’s always a banana skin just around the corner isn’t there. Wish there wasn’t, but no team in this division is going just to say, here you Ipswich, you’re such a good team, go on, you have all 3pts. Isn’t gonna happen is it! They’ll be plenty more Cambridge approaches to us I fear. So this is what I think might happen….

1st - Portsmouth (h) - W 3-2
4th - Cambridge (h) - W 3-0
8th - Morecambe (a) - W
15th - Lincoln City (h) - D
21st - Derby County (h) -D
25th - Port Vale (a) -W
29th - Charlton (a) -W

Predicting results even a week ahead is difficult due to all sorts of reasons, predicting for a whole month is pure guesswork.

All I will say is that it is sheer folly to expect that we will not lose during October.

Therefore, I will go for the following:

1st - Portsmouth (h) - W 3-2
4th - Cambridge (h) - W 3-0
8th - Morecambe (a) - W
15th - Lincoln City (h) - L
21st - Derby County (h) -W
25th - Port Vale (a) -W
29th - Charlton (a) -D

So, 16 points, which is more than good enough

What's your thinking I defeat to Lincoln Gary? I was thinking more likely Derby or Charlton where we come unstuck.

Well I think that our home record suggests that we will lose a home game during October, Mike, so for me it's a case of atmosphere at PR. Derby will without doubt bring more supporters than will Lincoln, which will create a better atmosphere which I think we are more likely to respond to.

Well looks like it’s going to be shytehousery of the first order Saturday if this is anything to go by. More if that to come from opponents I fear . It’s the only way they’ll stop us !

Yep, fair point, we do seem to respond better these days to the big atmosphere

So Mr Ripley might have a bit of brawn to him, but definitely not much brain.
Having chosen to alert the world to his intentions I'm hoping the officials on Saturday will be keeping an eagle eye on all that Morcambe do

If they do turn to being nasty we have to watch we do not get sucked in, the likes of Morsy will have to watch himself. Just stick to the plan, do not rise to any intimidation and we should be ok. That way they could lose 1 or 2 and open themselves up to a hell of a mullering.

Let’s hope the EFL appoint a referee up to the occasion, that would be novel. 🤣 .. Like Dazza has said Morsy needs to steer clear of trouble cos we really can’t afford to have him collecting suspensions this season as his presence in the team is hugely influential.

I’d say the Pompey game was probably one of the few occasions Town have ever showed up for a big game. We usual don’t.

It’s the bully boy games we also don’t fair well in , and I suspect we’ll have a few of them now coming up . Fingers crossed 🤞

You must be too young to have experienced the Bobby Robson era when we showed up for every Big Game as a given especially on European Nights. I now live in hope that Kieron McKenna becomes our best and most successful manager since Sir Bobby, he certainly has the pedigree.

If we lose just 1 game a month for the rest of the season that would pretty much guarantee automatic promotion to the Championship as League 1 Champions. I’d be more than happy with that.

As for not liking this type of thread Mendip, there’s a simple fix, don’t visit it. Some of us actually enjoy predicting the outcome of games which is why our Prediction League is so successful.

I thought the idea of all threads was to "VISIT" and comment or not?
As for the predilection League?.....Yep, the 14 of you who do it revel in its success. 🤣
So im sure you will be the first come November. Jeeez H Christ. 🥱

In fairness Ladapo is a legitimate target of castigation for some. Seems McKenna too often pins his hopes on the one player before a game's underway when the boy just isn't good enough or a viable choice to spearhead an attacking threat. We got other names going forward that would provide a better goal chance. It's not abuse, it's not about race color or creed it's simply what's best for the team and wanting the club name to succeed. The latter shouldn't even need be addressed but only to clear up any misunderstanding.

who else we got this calendar month, DCFC Port Vale and Charlton. Lincoln showed just recent all predictions are subject to change but would view to take at least two wins from those three games alone. Derby have failed to live up to expectation in this division and they can be got at. We don't always perform in front of a live TV audience but it's imperative the team rebounds quick from the injustice of Saturdays loss, there's little chance the team can assess 30 + shots on an opposition goal and not score again this season.

If people looked at his all round game instead of the goals ratio they may just see what he brings to the team, but then again........

I know what your saying but when he replaced JJ last night he did absolutely nothing positive in the 50 mins he was on. JJ was far better. Also when Burns and Edmondson came on they were both poor defensively as well.

You are right, he didn't do much last night but being down to 10 men negated any real attacking option we had.
