Dropping Points
Well thats the first of our rivals to drop points today. Makes the loss v Lincoln a little easier to take...

Re: Dropping Points
Rovers have levelled it against Plymouth and appear to be in the ascendancy! Cue the usual late goal from Plymouth;

… and that’s why it’s always better to have points in the bag rather than games in hand that rarely ever all get won.

Re: Dropping Points
Port Vale (a) on Tuesday night is a potential banana skin fixture that definitely can’t be taken for granted. Today they had a cheeky 0-1 win at Cambridge United and just two weeks ago they won 1-2 at Derby County. Given our win last night was less than straightforward against Derby will quite rightly raise Vales expectations which mean we can expect yet another difficult game.

Yep and it’ll have to be Ball and Humpreys in central midfield due to injuries and suspension.Charnwood wrote: ↑Sat Oct 22, 2022 5:58 pmPort Vale (a) on Tuesday night is a potential banana skin fixture that definitely can’t be taken for granted. Think I’d bring Keogh in instead of Edmundson tbh . He’d Marshall our defence. I Know it won’t happen but I’d be tempted to do that.

Re: Dropping Points
Yeah two challenging away games next: PV and then Charlton on Saturday
Plymouth have two home games: Shrewsbury and Exeter. Neither are easy but no surprise if they win both
Wednesday have two home games too: Bristol Rovers and then Burton. Again, while anything could happen, you’d fancy them for 6 points
It’s tough at the top…

Re: Dropping Points
Exeter is almost a local Derby for them. That could end in a draw…. Hopefully

Hey Hallam…….. you aint going to believe this, but i had to google the “almost” part of your post. I thought it was closer than an Ips-Nor derby.hallamblue wrote: ↑Sun Oct 23, 2022 11:04 amExeter is almost a local Derby for them. That could end in a draw…. Hopefully
46 miles Ply - Ex

Re: Dropping Points
Surely they must be the only two EFL teams from Devon, but then we only have 1 each in Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire which is even worse.
Certainly Derby games do add an extra edge and often throw up a random result such as we had yesterday when Blackpool won 4-2 against local rivals Preston.
I guess as far as Plymouth are concerned their game yesterday at Bristol City would be seen as one of their Championship Derby games and most would say that 2-2 draw was also unexpected.

Re: Dropping Points
I remarked to Mike recently that it seems that ALL other clubs in and around East Anglia hate us, but have no real animosity towards each other ...
eg Peterborough, Cambridge, Narwich , Colchester...
Jealous perhaps ?

Re: Dropping Points
What they got to be jealous about. While we've spent 20 years outside the top division and endured one incompetent team coach after another for the most part up until recent, Norwich have won second league Championships and participated in the EPL quite regular in the time stated. They've made accomplishments we couldn't match, like it , don't like it, that's the truth of the matter. As for the others mentioned, guess they've got their own objectives and business to attend to, not going to overly concern what we get up to.hallamblue wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 11:14 amI remarked to Mike recently that it seems that ALL other clubs in and around East Anglia hate us, but have no real animosity towards each other ...

No club side in the vicinity hates Town least of all the less substantial names mentioned. All right there's a certain ill feeling between ourselves and those at Carrow Road but hate seems too strong a word. Certain other derbies and local rivalry around the UK would seem far more intense. I don't particularly like them and wish them every misfortune but as for loathing and detestation, sorry could never quite rise to such a level.
