And with that, Eeyore slunk off to the end of his field sorry Andy - jokeAndym wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 9:52 pmI wouldn’t be surprised if were lost this one. I don’t think recent performances have been as sharp as at the start of the season. Too many loose passes, demanding errors etc. If we play at our best we will win, but (ignoring results) I think e are going through a less good patch.
3-1 defeat.

Yes, maybe I’m being too pessimistic. Two hard days work and I was very tired - that’s my excuse.Blue Wilf wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 10:35 pmAnd with that, Eeyore slunk off to the end of his field sorry Andy - jokeAndym wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 9:52 pmI wouldn’t be surprised if were lost this one. But I do think we have lost the slick accurate passing of earlier on.

If I look to be critical of this team it would be the number of passes that go straight to an opponent and gives away possession, but maybe it’s because we notice these more. The reason I say this is because when ifollow show the passing accuracy stats at half time and full time our accuracy percentage is huge…and before anyone jumps on the bandwagon and says it’s all the backward and sideways passing out of the box they also publish passing accuracy stats in the opponents half, and it’s still high.
I’ll try to remember to make a note of these today.

I agree on both counts, we have been giving the ball away more, and yet our overall accuracy is high. I think what we have lost is the three or four first-time passes, not necessarily over huge distances, but little passes that get the defenders running around in circles and thus creating space.Charnwood wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 9:35 am

Re: League 1 - Charlton Athletic vs Ipswich Town Preview & Matchday Thread
I’m watching Leicester City v Manchester City with the visitors struggling to break down a stubborn Leicester defence which hasn’t conceded a goal for 5 & a half hours. Leicester are well drilled and have 11 men behind the ball including striker Jamie Vardy who’s spent more time in the back third of the pitch than he has the final third. I know Man City are without Ealing Harland but they’re still the best attacking force in English football. If they can’t break through when a team parks the bus, maybe we should be less critical when Town struggle to break down teams intent on simply stopping you play.
I think Man City will find a way through sooner than later but it highlights just how difficult it can be.

It’s just taken a world class strike by Kevin DeBruyne from a free kick to break the deadlock. Unfortunately we don’t have that class in League 1.

Can’t wait for another dose of watching Town on ifollow this afternoon. Any guess on who’ll start as our front 3. I’ll go with Ladapo, Chaplin & Harness. Why do I think McKenna will do something completely different.
I’d also like to Humphrey’s get another start.

I’m personally disappointed as I wanted Edward’s and Ladapo to start, especially as they have a break this week and likely fringe players for the Bracknell game.
Not overly impressed with TJJ recently, he isn’t as good as the others. Worrying where the goals will come from today.
Humpreys was never going to start and I’m ok with that, ball deserves his chance and let’s ease Humpreys in off the bench. Less pressure on the young lad.

Not overly impressed either, Ladapo, Edwards and Harness should be in, I just don't rate TJJ either.

Jackson, Chaplin & TJJ, almost impossible to guess what McKenna will come up with for his front 3. But then if we can’t guess neither can the opposition.
It also suggests yet another week with little chance of predicting our first goal scorer.

Jackson would probably have more impact as a sub,Ladapo should be starting.

I've a horrible feeling be a 1.1 scrappy draw...we not playing great in last few games. Even though we have won .and its worrying that we not ...I think mckenna over think games and tinkering continous isn't helpful ..if we lose today I can see us going tru a bad patch and allowing others to close the gap

At least we’re creating chances even if we’re not doing anything with them.

I don’t actually recall us having a shot on target yet which is unusual for this team.

Not very entertaining, nothing happening down either wing.

Town deserve the lead restricted Charlton to very little. Town on top without creating the clear chances. Great corner for the goal. Let's hope we can kill it off early in the 2nd half.

Passing accuracy in the first half 76% which I think is lower than we have been achieving but is consistent across the pitch.

Pleased to be in front but it's been poor so far, we need to step it up second half.

Games like this are the ones you really have to win if serious about promotion because it would be so easy to lose concentration and concede a goal from nothing and against the run of play.
I’ll certainly feel much happier if we could score a second.
