Just how the hell has that snowflake Grealish been picked? He has no place in an International squad.

No punches pulled there then

It's a fairly safe and uninspiring selection I'd say. Southgate certainly has his favourites.

I think most managers do don’t they . But it’s clearly not based on form for all players that are picked . Why isn’t Brentford’s striker in that squad? He surely has earned a place.

I thought I was being quite understated Ricco   x

I’m pleased to James Maddison selected, I really think he deserves his place and has a lot to offer. Just hope he gets some game time.

You can't complain, he's been picked just for you Liz! Remember this comment?

"Love Grealishs bum …. Like two hard boiled eggs in a hanky ha ha 👍💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿"

yes, some of the selections (and omissions) absolutely beggar belief and as other have said it shows that GS definitely has his favourites.

Actually, though, the squad doesn't look too bad in attack and midfield - it's the defence that really worries me, especially if he plays that absolute numpty Eric Dier-Rear

How the hell does dire Eric make the squad? I wouldn’t want him near the ITFC squad let alone the England one.

I went to see the Lionesses play last night and all I can say is, the boys really do need to up their game!! It may of been a friendly but there was no way those girls weren't going to give their all and get a win! I still think they they need to line up at the bottom of the plane steps with their Euro Trophy, smile sweetly and say "wanna play top trumps"!!!! If that doesn't put some fire in the boys bellies I don't know what will!!

No idea where this notion of “trumps” even comes from. Its all relative to respective sport is it not?
The Lionesses in Womens sport are fantastic. But Cheltenham Town would thump them double figures to nil……, with ease.

Your mens national team has an absolute Himalayan mountain of talent facing them from last 16 onwards…….. and they’ve got plenty fire in their bellies, busting a gut majority of most games. FTR, They arguably would’ve won the Euros if not for a Chellini blatant foul on Saka. 🤷‍♂️

Need to stop the comparisons and the “egging on” …… its actually massively disrespectful.
Men & Women will forever be on a different sporting playing level……. And both will have fire in their bellies to succeed AT THEIR LEVEL.

Well there wasn't a fire until you started one, so perhaps choose when to keep your opinions to yourself.

There are idiots on both sides, don't be one of them.

Think the both of you missed my point.

Its an opinion....., but I believe it is massively disrespectful to question the fire in the bellies of the English mens team, and to compare them to the womens team. Massively disrespectful. You are sort of correct here, Balls.... it does seem to be stoked by the women MORE often than not.

But if everyone realised its all relative to all sport, we'd all stop the "one-upmanship" type convos.

And FTR....., it is TOTALLY, 100% "OK" to think Women's soccer is absolute shyte. But its actually better to think that its shyte on its own merit and NOT, DEFO NOT, comparing it to men's.

All opinion based......, carry on arguing now!! :D

Edit & 2nd FTR:......, I sometimes go with my cousin and his daughters to Hibs women's games......, quite enner'tainin'.

My point was purely about BBs response to Liz's post about the women's team's attitude. At no point did she mention that she thought the women's team was actually better at football than the men's, yet BB decided to pull up some proof about men's superiority.

So no basis on your posts Marko, and yes, I will continue to argue  The ladies are in the minority on here, they often get unfairly targeted, and every time a female team is praised there seems to be some knuckle dragger who scoffs at it. Women will never be remotely as able as their male equivalents at football, I don't think anyone on here has ever disputed that, we're built differently. But women can play with more dignity, more determination, more sportingly and they often do, so I don't see what is so bad for Liz or others to applaud that from time to time.

I agree completely on the facts you've stated.

But I cannot work out really if LizinSpains posts was in jest or not....., "Boys need to Up their game" & . "If thats doesn't put fire in the bellies"......, etc etc. It works both ways, Ricco. The level, (again, I realise, relative to all), is absolutely fkn monumental. I personally see the England lads bust a gut at the World Cup. It is also, as said, quite disrespectful. That is the only point I am trying to make.
Yes...., although quite humourous, the U15 jibe, is not good at all........, but it works both ways. NO ONE should be comparing.

Agreed, just thinking about the pressure alone that the men's team is under is enough to turn my legs to jelly. I wouldn't be able to deal with it, that's for sure. The women don't have to deal with quite as much luckily for them.

Pressure makes people underperform and do odd things. That can look like they don't care or ain't trying, but I can promise you they are trying their hardest, they're playing for their country at a world cup!

It's why it's hard to read criticisms of goalkeepers. I know what it's like have 50 or 100 people watching you and relying on you. Try 50,000 or 100,000!!

Hey there! I never inferred that you were an idiot.

The way the world is at the moment, I'm always in the men's camp against radical feminists, but Liz has given zero evidence that she's a radical feminist, so why choose this hill to die on? Liz was complimenting the ladies, while gently questioning the men (which I'll point out is what many men have been doing for decades).

If you saw 'aggression' or 'provocation' in her posts, then maybe lower your defences, because you'll be arguing with feminine looking brick walls before long.

Women's sport has to be taken seriously and with some respect. This topic went off on a tangent someplace but you'd see the national (women's) Rugby team had a World final just recent and a narrow loss to New Zealand (ironically first nation on earth to award women the right of vote) It were a heroic performance and they made a name for themselves and then some.

I got no issue with women's soccer, once again doubters worldwide will have their own perspective/s, but it's a chance for them in leagues and countries world over to participate towards tangible objectives. The English national squad had a big win over Germany this or last year in a Final, it made notice in a number of media outlets.

One mention only in that the actual men's tournament starts in a short time, it's a sh*t place to host it and a sh*t time of year in which to put on what should be the showcase event of world "football" but point being the only real interest is having the United States participating. We got the English and Wales to play but under no illusions we're not going to progress very far. The game's moved on considerably in recent years but never has been and never will (be) our national sport. Just want the damn thing over with soon as able - and it will be - domestics and Town progression are the real focus here. I want promotion out of this league, pissing around in the desert in some half-assed mess of a competition can take a back seat. That is all.

Saint.

Can you answer a question please,

2 sports in the USA……. that are unique to the USA, are Gridiron and Baseball. Yet the winners claim to be World Champions? Why the f*ck is that? Because no one else plays it?

Does this mean the current Aussie Rules AFL champs, the Geelong Cats, are World Champions…… because not many other countries play it?

(Side note: a lot of countries do play Aussie Rules, just nowhere close to that level)

Whats with all the “world champions” pish, Saint Spider?

There are 4 nations that don't partake in football, so what give France the right to call themselves world champions?!

I had a quick google about the world series to see if there was any genuine credible reason it's called that, I didn't find much, and got bored very quickly. I did however find this, and I wouldn't dare speak these words... but I would quote them...

" I just think it’s very American, and not in a good way.

Any country that would name a sport “football” when they know there is already a game called football and their version of football doesn’t use the feet, is pretty pompous, in my opinion. I think it just shows the ignorance Americans have about the rest of the world and their place in it."

But seriously, sports unique to their countries....... I don't get it.
