Nearly a "Macauley Bonne" moment at the death for Ghana. If their player hadn't slipped at the crucial moment, who knows we could've been looking at a 3-3 draw!

Didn't see what they got up to, caught score of a Portugal win although maybe they made hard work of it. Wish for the big names to get a victory in the Group Stages. With Italy already not part of it, going to be mighty sh*t if say Germany and Argentina both fail to progress to second round stage/s. Don't want no France vs Japan final or anything like it. It's got to be two of the biggest names the game can provide, or nothing.
Spain kept any interest alive, should have won Euro 2020 in the UK but here at least you feel there's a real opportunity ahead to make it this time.

I'm not so sure - Brazil undoubtably look comfortable on the ball, move the ball around at pace, and look just as good defensively as they do going forward. But with the latin temperamant, games are won and lost in their heads, and too many of them last night looked disinterested to me.
Having watched all of the first round of group matches, France have impressed me the most.

I agree that France have looked better (on the eye anyway)…… only thing id add is Serbia are no pushovers and Brazil just had wave after wave of attack.rossi wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 9:28 amI'm not so sure - Brazil undoubtably look comfortable on the ball, move the ball around at pace, and look just as good defensively as they do going forward. Australia aren’t really on the same level as the Serbs.
Very interested in seeing France v a more challenging opposition. Thinking they’ll get stronger as the tournament progresses.
After last night, a team will need to produce something special to ease past Brazil.

Re: World Cup 2022?!
Just watched Wales Vs Iran, hate to say it but the best team won by far, Wales were never really in it and we're second best most of the game, 2 - 0, could of been far worse.
Hennessey is a total bellend, just what you need when under pressure, a totally needless challenge. I'm hoping we now beat USA or could get nasty in last game when everybody will in with a chance to go through. But with Wales second choice goalie in we should win comfortably.

It is difficult to get into this WC. Personally, I think it is because they had to play it now rather than in the summer because of the retched decision to play it in Qatar.
Oh well, hoping for a draw here in about an hour

I'm just pleased that I had decided not to watch any of this world cup but admit I was tempted tonight, I'm so pleased I didn't.

Surely not a 0-0 draw, whatever next.
Thankfully I went out for a lovely Indian meal.
This must be the most boring World Cup ever so far.

Re: World Cup 2022?!
Well I’m stuck at home with health issues and have plenty of time to watch but still can’t get into this World Cup even having originally planned to be there to fulfil a football fan dream. Whilst I was horrified when FIFA awarded the Tournament to Qatar which was a totally inappropriate choice I’d got my head round it and accepted that as wrong as it was, professional footballers had little choice but to go along with it given their limited chances to fulfil their own ambitions to play at their professions most prestigious tournament. I’m sick to death of all the politics which in my opinion should be kept separate from Sport and even worse sick with FIFA which is such a corrupt Association it has to be overthrown by its Global Members and replaced by an alternative governing body.
As for Englands performance tonight, what a shocker after all the hype and excitement following the opening 6-2 win against Iran. I guess it’s yet another example of what happens when not losing is more important than winning, as is the case in most opening games of any Tournament with Group Stages involving teams with such a wide range of ability and resources.
Hopefully when we get to the Round of 16 onwards the football will improve dramatically and we can sit back and enjoy watching the worlds very best teams going head to head to win footballs biggest global prize.
Maybe after this World Cup is over and the dust has settled whoever the new organisers are they can put a little more thought into the consequences of their decisions and think more about players and fans than lining their own greedy pockets. If this doesn’t happen I fear it will go the same way as other sports and we’ll see a breakaway Tournament or an International Super Cup which would not be the right thing to do. The World Cup should be preserved but not in the hands of FIFA.
Apologies for the ramble, I’ll blame my medication.

Re: World Cup 2022?!
Absolutely fuming at the England performance tonight.
Trippier, Stones, McGuire, Shaw, Rice, Sterling, Masonturbator Mount, and Harry no goals Kane were an absolute disgrace, as was Southgate for his sterile and negative tactics.
In a different country - a few years ago - they would have been lined up against a wall and shot.

I wouldn't guarantee we'll beat Wales, yes they were poor too but when the chips are down they show far more passion.

Re: World Cup 2022?!
Neville was spot on in the studio……. USA dominant in midfield (for entire 90) and Southgate couldn't reshape it all or adjust.
Subs were poor as well. Blind man and his dog knew the game was screaming out for Foden. Putting on Grealish was “hoping” something would happen.
All very good players, (as you all know) but you’ve got the English equivalent of Craig Levein in charge.

Re: World Cup 2022?!
They certainly do. I, too, would not be surprised if they beat us, but we need to lose by 4 goals to prevent us progressing and I don't think that will happen and we will undeservedly go into round 2.

Re: World Cup 2022?!
yeah I reckon. In the 2nd round it looks like we'll play either Ecuador or Senegal (I'm thinking Netherlands will win the group) and I don't fancy our chances against either

Re: World Cup 2022?!
Granted the time of event and location to hold it is questionable, in fact it's not above scandal, sacrilege and horseshit, but you got to take a certain pride in the team getting a draw / point against those. Personally thought we'd get beat by some big score and kept away. Lo and behold the team could and should have won. That we didn't is regrettable, the English by all account were poor and while it's frustrating to miss out on another famous win you got to take any positives from it.Ohiotractorboy wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 7:08 pmIt is difficult to get into this WC. All the team needs do now is get a result from the last remaining Iran game and we've got ourselves a Second Round place. English may be good, they may be sh*t, but it's pity Wales have really failed to perform thus far and after all these years of wait, they've let a whole nation down so to speak. If they could play like they can or could, there could have been a real chance of them qualifying from these groups and having the English miss out altogether.
All said a good score yesterday , surprising one for sure but frustrations and some regret the team were unable to get the win. Pity, but you accept it and move on. We did ourselves proud, there can be little dispute.

Re: World Cup 2022?!
I’ve chosen to watch Kings Lynn v Stevenage and Forest Green Rovers v Alvechurch in the FA Cup rather than more World Cup boredom. I’ll go back to that when there’s nothing else.
