Just seen Hirst has joined on loan for rest of the season, good start for the week.

Welcome young man and good luck!
Yep. 👍👍

Probably liked the way the players celebrated their goals yesterday. Real look of genuine togetherness in the squad. 👌👍

I think it is Marko.

The term wobbly or in vulgar terms 'pissed', this is the nickname of the famous German beer 'Warsteiner', where if you have a few you become 'wobbly' lol.
WOBBLY - a slang term meaning an outburst of anger, often classified (incorrectly) as being Cockney Rhyming Slang.
Actually, the meaning of Wobbly in Cockney Rhyming Slang is Telly (Wobbly Jelly)

Phil Ham obviously keeping his powder dry with the Club likely to want to break the news before TWTD lol

Interesting!

Would love to get some Sunderland/Wigan/Everton fans views on him, he kindly had that Everton fan pop on here and he said he was good.
tried to find something on respective forums but only saw a comment on the sunderland forum saying 'shame' (as in that they didn't get him) and one said 'bargain' at a 1m price quote.

Hopefully this just makes us that bit more potent overall, i.e when we need to bring on fresh legs they are at least players who can score, you dont really get that with Jackson, Aluko etc - who have their own abilities but they dont score enough.

Exciting the level of depth we have now!

In midfield and up front we are essentially saturated with choices. Defence ? x 4 CB’s, one of which only Id trust (Burgess) fully. We leak goals just about every game . Please Town get another CB in this squad .

Not overly excited about the George Hirst signing. 145 appearances including youth International football scored 32 goals? Maybe KMck has seen something 🤔.

Appearance stats are meaningless these days when a 2 min late
sub appearance counts the same as a start.

If you segment George Hurst’s career into three fairly even
appearance chunks;
1) Sheff Wed, Leicester City, Rotherham and Blackburn 43 app (0)
2) Portsmouth 40 (13)
3) England U17, U18, U19 and U20. 40 (17)

In group 1 these are most likely sub appearances that don’t add up to much, whereas groups 2 & 3 are more likely starts which produced 30 goals 80 appearances. I’m happy to trust McKenna.

Broadband sounds like a good addition, hopes he's fast :D & I guess we will be playing 3 up front now with all the forwards wanting a game.

I’m loving these last two additions. Both strikers aren’t they?

Really don’t know much about him but it’s clear the board are backing the manager to the max.

Good bit of business, certainly going for it, couple of high quality players.

Does that leave any space for anymore arrivals? Of so wonder if we will get any defensive re-inforcements.

All done in good time and hopefully put one over on Plymouth this weekend.

They’re both good signings at our level especially Broadhead who arrives with a few recent goals under his belt, and with Wigan at the bottom of the Championship he won’t be getting the number of chances our boys get every game.

How many clean sheets have we had compared to other teams? I still think we’re ok defensively, we just need to score more goals to ease the pressure on KMs insistence on attacking wing backs. You’re always gonna be vulnerable if your defenders are going forward, so you have to score more goals. I can see a few tennis scores on the horizon with our new additions. How bout a few 4-3 wins for a change? Just sayin

I think Broadhead is a quality signing, looking forward to seeing how he gets on here. Not so sure about Hirst, doesn't excite me, and with Broadhead coming in, I don't really see the point in the loan, is there an option to make it permanent?

Walton has essentially the 8th best record in the league when it comes to clean sheets, 9 from 25.

Smudger: The lad will get the best settling-in advice and be well looked after by KM and his comrades, if he's got the right attitude and works hard and remembers its as a team we play with goals and assists, KM will develop him to his full potential along with Hirsty to make a quality pairing.

Now we need that CB in and seal up our leaky defence

Whatever positions we are strengthening it has to be said, hats of yet again to Mark Ashton, our best signing by a distance.

What’s changed is our whole philosophy of identifying, targeting and signing players, quietly , quickly and very efficiently. Very professional all round in my view. But that’s how this club is now under our new owners / staff/ backroom etc . Bloody lightyears different from the Evans era of just 12 months ago !

Exactly No 9, if you score more goals than your opponents you win. It just becomes tricky when you can’t get that 2nd goal and maybe that’s what McKenna is trying it insure against with his latest two signings.
