Hmmm doesn’t say a lot about Whittaker in my view, if he’s considering that move ( which he might not be). Seems odd that no one else has come in for him, ( or have they?) .

Surely a player that age should be looking to get into the English Championship of higher (no disrespect intended to our Scottish Town fans btw ), considering his form so far this season. They don’t appear to be hammering Swansea’s door down do they.
I won't tell my Scottish Rangers fan who drinks a gallon of beer before every Rangers Celtic match what you said :D but I agree with you.
Lol! I did go to a Rangers game in 1984/5 I think it was. Terry Butcher had either left us for them or was about too. They beat Falkirk 4-0. And a very young Ally McCoist said hello to my friend and me the game as he left the ground holding his boots…. He was a good looking young fella lol . I didn’t think much of the level of the game I’ll admit. But tbf I had been spoilt on the 81 UEFA cup winning team and the great SBR era. Not much will ever top that I think.

…..it’s only ever been about Rangers / Celtic.
Well……… no…….. its not.

They scrapped the 3 foreigner rule and both the Glasgow clubs went on a sending bender with cash they didn’t have.
Fergus McCann dug the Bhoys out the shyte…… and Glasgow Rangers were legally & officially liquidated and they do not exist anymore.
Apparently the new Sevco Rangers FC are back in sizeable debt..,,…. No doubt due to Stevie G’s wages.

But yep……., nowadays, it is all about Glasgow….. but it definitely has not always been. Aberdeen, Dundee Utd, Hearts & Hibs were all on a par 60s/70s early 80s.

Latest rumour. Harry Clarke.

Arsenal website says the following about him

‘A hard-working central defender, who is also capable of playing in midfield, Harry enjoyed a successful loan spell with Ross County in the Scottish Premiership for the first half of last season.

He then joined Hibernian on loan in January 2022, scoring on his debut for the Edinburgh side against Dundee United.

A natural leader on the pitch, England youth international Harry had previously starred on loan for Oldham Athletic, and is back out on loan this season, with Championship side Stoke City.’

Looks ideal - it’s a thumbs up from me if it’s true.

A thread on TWTD is asking Phil Ham has he heard about us a Harry Clarke, a defender currently on loan to Stoke from Arsenal. He was a kid with us a few years ago apparently.

I know score and result of every Scots Cup Final from the late 70's to 2000 and some semi games with it but not the information for every one of the latter.

Can't recall Forfar in a last four event, must have passed under the radar but imagine Aberdeen were the eventual winners, guessing '82, '83, something like that. Scots soccer in the 1980's was great, don't care what people imagine or sneer at the idea. Teams like Dundee United winning the league and reaching the European Cup semi-final, all that stuff, hell they should have made the final but were screwed out of it by Roma and their officials after taking a 2 - 0 lead from Tannadice into the return game.

Not only that they made a UEFA Cup Final appearance a few years after. '87 was a hard luck year for them, St Mirren saw a win in the Cup Final also against them. One last time there were some real good action that decade in the SPL and Europe for Scots clubs. Pity is, it's often overlooked or people simply don't recognize it.

We (Forfar) played Rangers in the 1981/82 Scottish Cup Semi final holding them to a 0-0 draw before succumbing 1-3 in the Replay, the Loons provided a massive shock on route to the Semi with a 0-1 win away to Hearts.

Yep, it really was. Was a ST holder @ Easter Road from 82 onwards (on our return from Australia)

Didn’t know that. What a great result @ shitecastle.
Shouldn’t be too harsh……. East Fife came to ER early 80s and knocked the Cabbage out. 🤦‍♂️
Might’ve been the League Cup though.

TWTD understands Town are closing in on the permanent signing of Arsenal defender Harry Clarke, the one-time Blues academy schoolboy, who is currently on loan at Stoke City.

The deal looks set to be confirmed today after the Potters loan is cut short with the Blues believed to be paying a fee of around £1 million for the 21-year-old.

Clarke left the Blues for the Gunners youth set-up in August 2015 having previously been the scorer of the U14s’ Barcelona-esque goal which went viral.

Born in Ipswich, Clarke was with Brantham Athletic prior to joining Town’s academy. At the time he was a midfielder but now operates as either a centre-half or right-back.

In 2020 he joined Oldham Athletic on loan for the campaign, then spent the first half of the following season in Scotland with Ross County before subsequently joining Hibs in January.

This summer he moved to Stoke in the Championship where he has made 10 starts and 10 sub appearances, scoring twice.

Clarke appears to be viewed as someone who can vie with Janoi Donacien for his role on the right-side of the defence.

Stoke fans view of him

Born in Ipswich and pinched by Arsenal when he was about 14. Now they're nabbing £1m from Town.

Burns comments on new boys:

“Town are understood to have at least one other target in mind before the closure of the transfer window at the end of the month and Burns is convinced that the three new arrivals already through the door are going to provide a substantial boost to their promotion chances.

Burns has been working alongside Luongo, Hirst and Broadhead this week and added: “The new guys are looking really sharp in training and looking as if they can add another element, another string to our bow as the saying goes.

“Massimo was with us for a few weeks before signing, while the other two have bedded in very quickly. Hirsty is a very confident boy and open to having a chat, you know, saying his piece when needed. That’s just how he is and I would say Broady is a little bit more reserved and just goes about his business as usual.

“In training, both of them have been looking sharp and I’m looking forward to watching both of them together when the time comes.”
