Yeah both recognisable without too much writing, actually none at all on ours, ( only because we couldn't spell it ) I like the spurs badge but detest the Spuds,

yeah but its very old and designs weren't so sharp then, especially as they were made from coal lol. it goes back to the 50s,4 weeks pocket money at the time, one of mine has lost a lot of the yellow,

I couldn't find any sign of that badge other than on ebay gnb. Was it used on shirts? There seems to be quite poor records of club badges, poorer that of kits over the years.

No sorry it was just the club badge the fans could buy, in those days there was never a choice like now.
this was the Shirt badge back in the 50s and the one worn at the 59/60 cup final.. since then we have had many shirt badges up until the present one,

First used the council crest at various points in various ways until 1972 when the 'yellow' first club dedicated badge was designed, before it was tweaked again in 1995 to the current design. The only criticism I would have is that the badge is perhaps a little overcomplicated for modern use. The Wolves badge could be printed on a postage stamp and still be instantly recognisable from a distance, whereas the text and embellishment on the Town badge makes it less suitable.



Local graphic designer had a dabble with new designs, some of which are quite nice, not that I'd want the current badge to change though.

I've also never really understood the water in the design either, sure the Orwell's the reason that Ipswich is there in the first place, but every flipping Town or City (other than a small handful) is founded on a river and has a similar relationship with it.

I think most clubs used the Town or City crest originally. then moved away to create there own marketing brand.
What I didn't know was the Town were founded in 1878, ten years before us,
The Towns badge is instantly recognised with the association with that great horse the Suffolk Punch.
if you look at the first pic it has a ship on it so the river Orwell was a connection, Note the ship looks like it was an after thought

Bit of knowledge here Marko. I didn't know this.
St George was from Coventry and he killed a dragon, and the elephant is supposed to be the mythical archenemy of the dragon. (don't know why -perhaps they used their trunks to put out the dragons fire).
