What a game changing this day could be, if Ipswich hold on and with Barnsley winning this could be massive

If we thought this afternoons game was massive not sure what it makes the trip to Oakwell in two weeks time !..... especially with Barnsley’s two games in hand and only six points behind. Now that is what you call a 6 pointer.

Totally fantastic. The automatic promotion is back on
Hard not to get carried away. When think back to Cambridge, Oxford and Bristol Rovers. Total contrast

Well I really enjoyed that one, can’t wait for the trip to Barnsley.
Sheffield Wednesday v Bolton Wanderers looks interesting next Friday too although the latter will need to play better than today.

Excellent battling performance in the 2nd half. Walton penalty save was pivotal. 6 clean sheets new club record. Well done Town just 2pts adrift now.
Also 5 wins on the bounce.

Scrappy first half, great goal. Walton's penalty save was probably a turning point. Bullet header second goal, game over. We struggled to calm it down at times but we were the better side and deserved he win. They came at as for 20 minutes at the start of the second half, but - penalty aside - we looked fairly safe at the back.
Great win, half the team booked but Morsy not among them. In fact he hardly gave away a foul all game. Dare we dream?

Only just seen the final score. What a fantastic result and well done Town. Well I moaned about Walton and Hirst earlier today and both had a major influence on the game, just shows how much I know! Shrewsbury up next so I will have to have a think about who to criticise next week so they can win MOTM.
Things are getting interesting now. COYB.

Outstanding performance by the team today. Walton back to his best. Class goals and the pressure building on Plymouth I think ( hope).
I honestly think if we could beat Barnsley and Derby away we will Nick 2nd place ….. but we mustn’t slip up 8n the perceived “ easier” fixtures…of which there are none frankly.
SO chuffed with us tonight. Just a shame Plymouth haven’t got more away games coz it’s their home form that’s keeping them 2nd.

Much happier forum these days.
Town running into form at the right time.
Barnsley and Derby for me are the defining games of the season. 4 points out of them and Town will be second.
I'm really confident that Town will go up even if it has to be via play offs

Just watched the highlights.
Walton's save at the near post was fantastic before we scored , and the penalty save he did very well to get to the bottom left to save it.
Burns is now coming into form great run and pass to Hirst , good to see Hirst get his 1st and a great strike too .
Burgess header was a well worked routine off the training ground.
Harness missed a sitter and did not get it on target.
It looks like Plymouths away form could be the decider .... COYB

I got any score late also. Had a view of a 1 - 0 lead at some stage of the game and hoped the team would hold on and see it out. To go up there, to a promotion rival and all that, and take a 2 - 0 win is highly commendable. There's one or two elements of the manager that don't stick well but we're obviously getting something done. This is without question the best season here since Joe Royle, all right McCarthy managed one play-off finish out of f*ck knows how many other attempts but this is something else. There's a different sense of belief that wasn't evident back then, lower league or not.Shed on tour wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 6:08 pmOnly just seen the final score. Plymouth getting a big setback was real encouraging for us, the scores together were just about ideal and while Derby got a win to spoil things a little they're too inconsistent to really pose a threat to us. If the team (us) don't get a promotion this year then it never will. You can almost taste the idea / realism of Championship soccer in August.

I thought yesterday was the best I've seen Woolfenden play all season, also Hirst showed real quality with that finish and did ok second half, needs more input from the off but can't take anything away from that finish. Walton back to his best too, superb performance.

Sounds like we mixed it up more when we had the ball in and around our penalty area yesterday when playing the ball out which is good to hear.
I have been one of his biggest critics, but really pleased for Hirst and hopefully that goal will build his confidence. Seen a lot of talk on that other forum about how big the game is at Barnsley Saturday week. It’s important that we just concentrate on the game against Shrewsbury next Saturday, and glad to see that McKenna has already highlighted this and said that the win yesterday will only count if we back it up.
