More like 60 million available to mckenna..these guys want to get to premier league ASAP
Not sure where you plucked that figure from Denny, it’s massively more than this seasons top six spent added together. Burnley and Middlesbrough had more transfer revenue from sales than they spent, and the other four clubs spent about £16m between them.
Sunderland £6m were the biggest spenders followed by Sheffield United £4.5m, Luton Town £2.12m and Coventry Nil.
In the chasing pack Millwall spent £2m, Blackburn Rovers £1.75m and West Brom £1.35.
Whilst these figures may not be wholly accurate they are more than indicative which suggest ITFC probably spent more money on new players to get of League One than most Championship clubs spend in pursuit of the Premier League.

Didn’t we spend more in league one than most of those championship clubs?

We spent more last season than Blackpool, Coventry, Wigan and Luton and on a par with Millwall, Sunderland and Blackburn Rovers.

Luton played very well last night, high pressing high intensity football. They certainly used the height of the team at set plays very well.

I think they’ll go up tbh. A very good team so 3rd was no fluke.

Bloody hell ..the two clubs that that were in the lowest ebb that any club could find themselves in ..are in the final..... 8 years ago. Luton were in non league...Coventry were in the bottom of league 2....while all that was going on.ipswich were only one step away on numerous years from the Premier ship.... it can be sickening...

Madness, but great for them. I’d genuinely like to know the story of Coventry and their stadium issues?

well I watched all play-off games, and I have to say that both Coventry and Middlesboro were dismal.

Luton's approach was clearly to spoil the games by shutting up shop, and Boro just had no idea of how to break them down.
Luton played the long ball game, probably the only way they can play as their passing was absolutely dire (must have all attended the Cole Skuse Acadamy of Passing).

If these 2 teams reached 4th and 5th in the Championship this season, I think we should be fairly optimistic about our own chances next season.

Maybe the above reads wrong, Luton didn't play Boro........

I personally still feel there is a jump which is bigger than many town fans think, none of these players we have were doing that well in the championship. I think we can be mid table, maybe more depending on signings.

I think the way we performed against Rotherham and Burnley with a B team suggests otherwise tbh.

Caught glimpses of the EPL Play-offs and true, it wasn't great, but the “level” of that league shouldn't really be judged on those games. They’ve all just finished a gruelling 46 game season and couple that with the mental enormity of those play-offs. Got to think the Luton v Coventry final will be no better than Chesterfield v Notts County.

Someone mentioned “mid table” for ITFC next season. In my opinion, that’d be a decent season. 👌👍
But hopefully not falling like a stone from the autos to mid table.

Top 6 finish for Town marko, 👍

But we need better CBs

Ps Luton will be promoted I think : and what a story that is!

It was vs a Rotheram with very poor morale, and vs a Burnley B side. If you read things that way you could say colchester fans will comment 'well we beat this so called best league 1 ever side'.....

Very different playing a whole season etc. I just don't know what the evidence is to suggest we will make easy work of the championship. I don't think we will struggle but we need to be realistic.

That’d be incredible. Really would.

And re the play offs…… having got the Sunderland v Boro “final” 100% wrong, i am going to root for Luton……. Basically because id like to see Coventry back in the big time.
Wee cuz, (or BIG cuz) 6’7” English ginger Pete is a CCFC STHolder, …… and it’d be great for him & his pals.

So err……. 🤔 come on, Luton!

I don't think anyone is saying it's gonna be easy, that definitely won't be the case but it's widely accepted that our brand of Football will be far more suited to the Championship than the pub league and it's inept officials we've just got out of. Add to that I personally feel we have a nucleus of a first team who's players look every bit good enough to play in the Championship, Walton, Davis, Morsy, Evans, Luongo, Chaplin, Broadhead, Ladapo, Clarke would probably walk into most Championship sides.

Don't expect the ref standard to be much better in the league above!

Agree we have a good core but alot of those have played at champsionship level and didn't overly excel there or struggled to break into teams - saying they'd walk into most of those sides is wide of the mark I believe. Lungo couldnt get a kick for Boro, Broadhead wasn't exactly ripping it up, Clarke was a regular but not exactly a standout for a top side etc.
They'll be fine for solid mid table finish I feel but I don't think we can assume play-offs without some much better playings arriving.

Absolutely mid table but isn't that a decent return ? 3 or 4 more good signings and midtable (12th) can soon become top 6. That said for a first season back I wouldn't be too upset at mid table tbh.

The other thing is players who may not have excelled may not have been part of a cohesive team working as a unit like we have here, could have been in teams struggling or being mis managed.

If Coventry don't go up I'd love us to go after their striker Gyokeres, he looks a very good player and can finish too.

I’m sure it’s my blue tinted glasses, but I’m confident we may be able to challenge for a top 6 position. A lot depends on how well our current players adapt to the championship as a team, and how well new additions fit into the system. KM has proven he knows how to prevent team’s from scoring; I can only imagine we’ll be even harder to score against with better CBs. As long as we continue to create chances and score regularly, we could be one of the better teams.
