Livermento moves from Saints to Newcastle for £40m, that'll maybe mean they spend some of that money at least.

Marshall and Oldham : weren't they together years back when Joe Royle was manager there and assembled a squad that was on the verge of actually wining a major trophy. Around about 89,90 : fans can recall they put together a great team but it didn't last long. It's a real shame where they've ended up now.
Kane and Munich saga still ongoing by all account. They still haven't settled on a price. Irony is, keep it up and sell by Christmas and it'll be just in time for pantomine season. Edit, believe It were Ian Marshall now come to think of it but we move on.

- leeds trying to send Aarons from Norwich for 12m, that would boost their budget.
- Tom Davies turned down Cardiff due to wage demands, I liked him but now we have Taylor I can't see it happening. Maybe he ends up at Luton or Sheffield Utd etc.
- Joe Roden (CB) looking to move to Leeds from Spurs
I think clubs are trying to step up their business ahead of the window closing, but for me I'd epect the flurry to be around deadline day still for most clubs.

Re: Non Ipswich transfers
West Ham United have agreed deals for Manchester United's Harry Maguire and Southampton's James Ward-Prowse worth about £60m in total.
Each deal is thought to be worth in the region of £30m.
That’s about a £50m write off for Man Utd but I bet their fans are happy unlike those at Southampton,

Ward-Prowse to Wet spam, with the almighty Flynn Downes reportedly going to Southampton on loan for the season? How the mighty have fallen eh! And given that Rice has left WHU one would suspect Mr Downes will be disappointed that his boyhood club don’t see h8m as the natural replacement.

Downes is a work in progress still, but does show you that game time is key and moving too early can hamper you.
Also see Bristol City have sold their highly rated young CM to Bournemouth for 25m, but I did read that they wont go splashing the cash as they are at their salary limit, so that money likely won't recycle back around the league.
Southampton surely will go on a bit of a spending spree now, even if they spent £20m it might have a knock on effect througout the league.

Re: Non Ipswich transfers
I struggle to imagine seeing Harry Kane anywhere other than Spurs and why should he with £400k pw on offer and at the end of next season leave on a free transfer and write his own pay check. Clearly the fella isn’t a pot hunter else he’d have been gone years ago.

I think he should go. It’ll be a great experience, and he’ll be a better player. Not sure how much he’d feature in the next WC, but he’ll learn a different style that should enhance his talent. Spurs are going nowhere until their defensive issues are addressed.Charnwood wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2023 11:04 pmI struggle to imagine seeing Harry Kane anywhere other than Spurs and why should he with £400k pw on offer and at the end of next season leave on a free transfer and write his own pay check. Liverpool agree a £111m deal for Caicedo from Brighton which is a British record transfer fee. There is also a sell-on clause in the deal.
These transfer fees are getting fecking ridiculous.

As much as I love football I bloody hate everything to do with these pathetic transfer fees, when I think teams like Bury are just allowed to go to the wall when a million quid would have more than saved them and then we see this it makes me sick.

Re: Non Ipswich transfers
I’m not sure it can be very satisfying winning a League Winners medal playing for a team that simply dominates the German Bundesliga with virtually no competition. He doesn’t need money so why not stick with the club you love and enjoy being an all time great Goalscorer and make a Premier League goal scoring record that will stand for many years.number 9 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 1:56 amI think he should go. Re: Non Ipswich transfers
I can’t believe a player of his quality has stayed at Spurs as long as he has. True loyalty there. But I do don’t if he’d left it a tad late to go off and win things in his career now. Good luck to him. Spurs have been very lucky to keep him as long as they have , given the flatter to deceive almost every season.

Re: Non Ipswich transfers
It gets worse. 'A red team on Merseyside' have agreed a deal with Brighton Hove Albion for some kid I never heard of (Ecuador International) - the price agreed - only a mere £ 110,000,000..
It would be a British transfer record between clubs, although lo and behold Chelsea are not giving up and lying in wait preparing a similar (or even greater bid) to snatch the player for themselves.
One hundred and Ten million pounds for a Brighton player- only in a world in such disarray could you try to comprehend the madness behind it.
They should all meet up on the beach and pummel the sh*t out of each other like Mods and Rockers to determine who gets or keeps him. Least that way you could find some entertainment or reason behind it.

Looks like this lad is off to LCFC (subject to a medical), and as a similar player to JRS I suspect they will probably give him a miss now as this lad looks a better prospect....

Yes Liz, LCFC are certainly splashing out by the looks. If they do not go straight back up questions may be asked.

Well let’s just hope them spending £m’s on expensive players doesn’t necessarily mean they get a good “ team”

Re: Non Ipswich transfers
With £90m in the kitty from the sale of James Maddison to Spurs and Harvey Barnes to Newcastle they are awash with cash. I think so far they’ve spent a max of £30m which still leaves them with a good surplus.
I’ll definitely be surprised if they don’t fill one of the automatic places and good luck to them.

Re: Non Ipswich transfers
With Martin O'Neil they assembled a very effective team that regularly played in - and won - domestic Cup competition, not only that play-off victories and promotion from the second league to the top. They didn't require big transfer deals and accomplished things on a small budget and shrewd no-thrills signings.
Kind of relief the Kane deal went through long last, although if the kid's valued at 100 million how much would a Jim Greaves of 1962 be worth in today's market. Other (Spurs) players also of the time, Cliff Jones, John White, Blanchflower and Dyson etc. The (four) latter alone would fetch something astronomical.

re Leicester - I don't think they will spend too much more, they had big financial issues to cover so sales were needed.
Southampton are the interesting one, just sold Livementaro for 40m, JWP for 30m and Lavia may go for 50m. 3 key players but serious cash which they will no doubt spend a bit of.

I see Middlesbrough have sold leading scorer Akpom and have brought in two, Lukas Engel & Emmanuel Latte Lath: Middlesbrough sign left-back and striker on four-year deals, I wonder if Town will go down that route ?.
