Most underrated and overrated players of all time?
I know a broad topic, but just curious to who you all have as your most underrated and overrated players ever to play for the Tractor Boys? Sure mine will be vastly different since not been a fan as long so just going by who I have seen in my time as a fan, but anyway here they are:
Underrated:
Paul Anderson-Not the flashiest of players, but loved his overall desire.
David Norris.
Overrated:
Will Keane
Alan Judge

I'd say you've been a fan a fair while if you remember David Norris! A good name though, one of those types who do a lot of hard work which goes unnoticed. Perhaps a touch harsh on Keane, as he's done reasonably well since leaving has he not? He kind of turned up at a time when everything about the club was cursed.
I'd like to have a think and come back to this thread, I'm sure there are many names to add. Sadly Connor Wickham was very overated, which was good for Town as they made a bit of money, but I felt he was never quite sharp or clinical enough for the top level. He was big and powerful though, so it's a bit harsh to call him overrated without knowing what kind of a player he may have become if not for injuries. A player thinking back to the Burley years that was not a top quality player, but underrated in the sense that he gave his all and would stick his neck on the line for the club, players like Richard Naylor are not appreciated I don't think, loyal and reliable, an old school Luke Chambers type, another who will never be truly appreciated for his loyalty and sacrifices because of the period he was at the club.
Marko will tell you how he think Tamas Priskin was underrated too, a snip at £1m or whatever it was.
Oh and welcome to the forum!

Ulrich Le Pen was another that many may say was overrated, but again that was because of an injury he picked up so soon, he had a half decent career elsewhere though I think. Luciano Civelli was a similar case and while we're on South Americans, there was Adrian Paz too, but that's stretching my memory as a Town supporter!

Think he played for us in the prem, got injured after 12 minutes against Bolton, never played again for Ipswich, cost 1.5 million, never settled in the UK.

Underrated:
Paul Cooper…. (always felt sorry for him in that great 81 side . He was the only player not to be an international I think, but he never let us down in goal).
Jamie Clapham : offered a lot to the team but again rarely got recognition.
Overrated:
Alan Judge . Past his sell by date by time he pulled a Town shirt on. Arrogant sod too.
Dozzell : either of them.
Woolfie: can’t see what all the fuss is about.

I don't really want to go back there, like a bad acid flashback, but there was a time we signed both Bullard and Chopra.

Re: Most underrated and overrated players of all time?
Both
Thing is he and Bart came back from the World Cup ( both bench warmers and last minute additions to their country’s squads, thinking they were billy big Bollox. Knudsen wouldn’t sign a new deal expecting some big club to come in for him. That worked out well didn’t it, and then he criticised the Town fans for taking McCarthys comments about the fans, to heart.
He used to run up to the half way line with the ball, stop, turn and face his own goal and pass the bloody thing back to the centre half. We even conceded a goal from one of his infamous throw ins level with the opposition 18 yard area. It got intercepted with all the Town players committed to attack ( thinking the ball would end up in the opponents box) and he promptly throws it to the opposition. Utter tool!
