Shame, I like Plymouth - seems a decent club, good last couple of managers and some decent players.

Not sure how much of an upgrade stoke is, I guess they have a bit more money maybe and are a bigger club overall.

If I had to choose which of those towns to live in there'd be no contest.

Believe all they've won is a League Cup in the early 70's. Probably one of the UK's oldest club names and for all the years of existence they don't really have much to show for it. Stanley Matthews was a great figure and icon of the game but for trophies won or challenged, they've fallen way short.

Never had an issue with Plymouth but thought last season we were clearly the best team in League One. Us and not they should have taken the title but we're having such a great season now you can kind of overlook it.

Sunderland as an aside have brought in ex-Huns coach Mike Beal on a two and half year contract. Won over 30 games from like 44 played in the SPL but it wasn't good enough for the directors there following a poor start thereafter. It's a fickle game where loyalty and understanding can go by the wayside at any given time.

My great grandfather is buried in Plymouth. He doesn’t get out much.

Interesting one. Must believe he’ll be better placed to progress with Stoke, rather than Plymouth whose budget is likely to be some way inferior, and therefore limiting in the Cship. Assume the Pilgrims will be due some compo.

I don’t see this as much of a career move. Must be a money driven decision or maybe a fall out with the Plymouth owners.

Add Stoke City to the list of Football Clubs we meet soon after appointing a new manager, it happens so often and adds an extra dimension to the game with the team often benefiting from a new manager bounce.

Well Plymouth fans were saying how great the owners are and what a relationship they have with Schumacher so I can only think he views it as a good career move, clearly a bigger club but not much better atm.

Yes higher potential I guess.

He may benefit from the summer signings brought it. As we know it takes time to gel a new team together. His predecessor hasn’t had the time to benefit from those acquisitions.

Interesting that only four C’ship managers remain in post from the start of last season: Town, Blackburn, Preston and Coventry. High level of churn in a ‘results based’ industry. Sometimes, though, there’s no obvious rationale to owners’ hitting the eject button. John Eustace vs Wayne Rooney at Brum falls into that basket. Possible move by Eustace to Plymouth seems a good bet!

Eustace would be an excellent fit for Plymouth, they could certainly do a lot worse.

What Birmingham did defies any sense of logic, Rooney is without question one of the worst managers there is, they get what they deserve as far as I'm concerned.

No Dean Smith was there until December 2022.

Blimey that’s a shocking stat! I’d love to know what overall result the change had, ie league position change from start of new manager to final league place.
