It's a short transfer time but I may do that anyway, aside from the football it's nice to get there early anyway

Yes from my distant memories of using those in holidays, you could be sat on that bus for 35/45 mins especially if your hotel is the last one on route. Get a taxi Mike, but ask for the price to your destination BEFORE you get in!

So I think we still want Leicester v S'ton to be a draw or S'ton win - right?

Yep, 100% Soton win for me as well. It is a gamble as Ipswich will definitely need the 3pts from Hull & Cov, but Leeds need to be under pressure on that last day.

Damm!
Ok so now it really looks like we need to win the next 3, if we get 2 wins + 1 draw and as Leeds win their last 2 (I fully expect that now) then it'll be us losing out on goal difference.
PRESSURE! I'm not sure I can take this!
I think by sunday our chances of promotion will be very clear.

The pressure went up ten fold with us having a free weekend, I still maintain it was a bad thing which would hurt us big time and it's looking that way.

Re: The Title Run In..........
Im not so sure tbh . The players looked dead on their legs to me over those last 2 home games. I think the rest will have allowed them to re group , gets some rest into the legs , and re focus.
Our inferior GD was always going to shoot us in the foot in my humble opinion....

Re: The Title Run In..........
So the results since we last played have not gone the way we wanted them to, but the situation has not changed one bit.
2 weeks ago we needed to match the results Leeds get - that's still the case.
The only concerns I have at the moment is current form - both Leeds and Leicester played against teams we have also played recently: Leicester thrashed a team that we won against by the odd (very late) goal, Leeds beat a team away that we struugled against at home and dropped a couple of points. So current momentum is definitely with Leeds (I think we can all accept that Leicester will get promoted).
So, barring an upset at Loftus Road on Friday, it looks like we need to win our last 3 games. KM has been quoted as saying he was pleased with our 2 week break and that will give the players a decent rest and freshen them up. He's got what he asked for, so now it's time to step up to the plate and prove he's as good as people are saying he is.

Well it seems I'm the only person on the planet that thinks this Two week break will be our undoing and I stand by it, couldn't have come at a worse time and has handed all the initiative to our rivals while piling all the pressure onto us.

Quite a few reporters are quoted as saying “the break comes at a great time for Kieron McKenna”
Cant find anywhere where McKenna himself is quoted as saying it. Any chance of finding it and posting his words on here.

Re: The Title Run In..........
Off the scale pressure 8pm saturday night for sure.
I suppose it really will prove if the players are up to it.
Not adding McKenna to that……. For his management and tactical skills throughout a season whereby his best player Morsy was getting banned and players like Burns & Broadhead getting injured, ——>> to be 3 wins for EPL status, his credentials don’t into question in my opinion.

Certainly not questioning his credentials, more the fickle hand of fate with the fixture run in and timing.marko69 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 10:30 amOff the scale pressure 8pm saturday night for sure.

Ah! Ok
I don’t ever go on that site unless the links are posted on here. Cheers for that.
I am in your camp on this one. It has indeed heaped pressure on. The Hull game? Wow. Just got to hope they’re up for it.

No you're not, Mike - I also never thought it would do us much good. As well as the extra pressure now in knowing we have to win, historically we have never played particularly well after a break.
But, as I said before, KM thinks it's a good thing: so, for me, the onus is now on him to earn his money and fire the players up before the next 3 games.

It's not KM's fault if we don't do it, he is dragging this squad WAY above their level. I looked at the XI's for Leciester and even Saints last night, they are so much stronger than ours. It's the fact this amazing manager has been able to get so much out of this squad - which is just incredible, that has got us to this position.
I feel like the with the quality those sides have they only need to play a 6 or 7 out of 10 to win - yet we need an 8 or 9 out of 10 peformance, and we've managaed to do that week in week out for most of the season - again it's an incredible feat by the players.
So it depends if we can bring our A game, becuase if we do we can win these games.

I still think that if we had played and looked as jaded as we did in the last few games, we would have been saying they are tired! The situation remains as it was - its just that we know what we have to do!
