Re: The Title Run In..........
I see Leeds play ahead of us again next weekend with a Friday Night away fixture in another Yorkshire Derby v Sheffield Wednesday. Once again we’ll know what we need to do when we kick off next Saturday.

Re: The Title Run In..........
A great set of results for us yesterday.
- Leicester lose three in a row and have three aways this March (and the distraction of an FA cup quarter). Is the collapse on?
- Leeds drop points: thry could push for the title but equally could stay in playoffs now
- Southampton showed yesterday they cannot be discounted
But the fact is if we keep pace with our rivals- it's the premier league. What a story!

Don't forget that Leeds have to play a Stoke side desperate for points on Tuesday

Unfortunately I don’t think Stoke will get anywhere near them and Leeds will win comfortably, however I’d love to be proved wrong. Sheffield Wednesday on Friday Night in a Yorkshire Derby, well that could be very different.trimleyblue wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 11:12 amDon't forget that Leeds have to play a Stoke side desperate for points on Tuesday

I don't disagree, just hoping against hope, and thinking we'll know before our game ends how things have gone, which may or may not be to our advantageCharnwood wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 6:29 pmUnfortunately I don’t think Stoke will get anywhere near them and Leeds will win comfortably, however I’d love to be proved wrong. We have an extra recovery day more than Cardiff ahead of our game on Saturday. After tonight’s second half I think we deserve it.

R 23 Sheff Wed 36 11 5 20 -23 38
R 24 Rotherham 36 3 10 23 -42 19
I don’t think we need worry about Sheffield Wednesday not having any incentive to win against Leeds on Friday Night in their all Yorkshire local derby. 3 points would move them up a whopping 8 places above Plymouth.

I just hope Sheffield Wednesday play a very physical game. Farke was crying about Huddersfield’s physical approach. Maybe those overpaid Leed’s prima donnas are becoming too sensitive?

Re: The Title Run In..........
Top 3 current form teams in the Championship;
1) Ipswich Town P6 W6 D0 L0 18pts
2) Leeds United P6 W5 D1 L0 16pts
3) Sheffield Wed P6 W5 D0 L1 15 pts
Sheffield Wednesday at home could do us a massive favour. Definitely a game for town fans to follow closely on Friday night. Certainly a game I shall be watching.

Re: The Title Run In..........
I see the Leicester City v Southampton outstanding fixture has been rearranged for 24 April which gives both teams 3 games in 8 days between 20-27 April the week before the final round of fixtures on 4 May. Not ideal for them but could help us and Leeds.
This also means Southampton’s last two away games are at Leicester City and Leeds United. Ouch !

Re: The Title Run In..........
Leicester may well get an advantage if they can con enough game officials to award them favorable decisions. Caught some coverage of their game with Hull City was it and some of their squad names just went over too easy with little or no contact from an opposition player. Didn't get the rule every time but seemed blatant attempt on occasion to obtain an unfair decision. Surely a team in league first position don't need to resort to that bullshit but guess most if not all teams will try or attempt a level of cheating to gain an advantage.
They're too inconsistent in recent months to realistically be title winners. Not a team of stars, they got a handful of standout players but collectively they just don't appear as robust as nearest challengers. Leeds will fill one of the auto promotions slots that much you got to realize now and while we seem better equipped than Leicester to join them, the Cardiff score and loss of eventual focus just kind of sent out a message there's one or two deficiencies in our team set-up that can or will prevent it.

Re: The Title Run In..........
I would say that looking at the top 4 clubs I think 95 points will be required to achieve automatic promotion, but with our far less superior goal difference I'd say we need 96 - that's another 18 points from 9 games, or 6 wins. I'd love to see us do this, but think we will fall a little bit short.

Re: The Title Run In..........
This really is a classic 3 horse race now. And you have to fancy whoever comes 3rd to be good enough to go up through the playoffs (although that's been said before).
Personally I think we see Leeds flip Leicester over the next week or two.
Such a shame we couldn't hold on at Cardiff but 6 out of 7 aint bad and as Rossi says, that rate of success should be enough over the next 9 games if normal service can be resumed.
Could be that 100 pts will be required for automatic - top teams are not dropping too many points. What an amazing thing that would be.

Re: The Title Run In..........
Leicester looked vulnerable again at Hull on Saturday and did well to get a point. Without Vardy I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t have. It’s a shame Carvalho missed with his penalty kick.
I don’t relish our chances at Hull for our final away game of the season especially if they’re still in the battle for a play off place.

We produced our best display of the season at home to Hull, it was outstanding, a repeat at their place may well be needed.

Re: The Title Run In..........
I’ve not given up on us yet Mike and if it is by the play offs so be it. Just gutted if it is by the Play Offs as I’ll be 6,100 miles away in Los Angeles and will miss my first major Town game played within my lifetime which includes Town v Aston Villa in 1962 to win the League Championship, Town v Arsenal in 1978 to win the FA Cup, AZ Alkmaar v Town (home and away) to win the UEFA Cup and the Wembley Play Off Final v Barnsley in 2000 to win our last promotion to the Premier League.
If it comes to it Mike I’m sure I’ll be able to watch it on tv even with a 9hr time difference, but it’s never the same as being there as I’m sure you realise this season with missing our away games after all those seasons travelling to sh*t hole grounds watching some utter dross.
I guess I need to keep praying we can still grab one of those automatic places.

It's not over yet Andy although you would think so reading some comments on social media after the defeat Saturday, there will be more twists and turns for sure.
Like you if it is to be the play offs then so be it and I also am away in the Algarve from 4th to 18th May so assuming we won the semi final I'd be ok for the play off final, long way to go though and we may not need that route.

Re: The Title Run In..........
It’s about who blinks first really isn’t it. It is very fine margins and that means there’s less and less leighway for errors and points being dropped.
Tbh I can’t see the Leeds machine letting up now, and I’m hoping Leicester keeps faltering. Saints have a small points gap to overcome but as long as we can keep pace with Leeds n Leicester it’s still all to play for I feel.

I think Leeds are nailed on to win it, had they not beaten Leicester I think we'd be looking very unlikely to make top Two as it stands now but with Leicester having a tricky run in and loss of form/confidence we still have a chance.

Re: The Title Run In..........
Leicester are either going to get in to a purple patch..or implode..couldn't see any one else scoring bar vardy ..we aren't playing well in some half's. Finding it hard to get in to our rhythm...now that points are like gold dust to every club be it autos playoff or relegation. A lot will shut up shop and will be hard to get through.. as others have said. Leeds are looking good .defence is good ...so I see them as 1 its between us and Leicester. And saints could yet have a late run too.
