Brilliant tackle from Burgess on 62 mins to prevent an almost certain goal to Wednesday.

Would be a shame to lose the momentum especially with no game for 2 weeks.

2 more goals would be nice to take us to 80 for the season.

Sarmiento and Al-Hamadi on for Broadhead and Moore. A goal apiece would be nice.

No 5, Al-Hamadi assisted by Sarmiento after a great run from Omari Hutchinson

Another goal from a sub and another goal in the final 15 minutes.

I thought I was being bullish with my 3-0 prediction but 5-0 is just amazing.

Some of our passages of play today have been incredible, and to think just 12 months ago these two teams were pretty much neck and neck rivals in League One.

No 6 Al-Hamadi again laid on a plate unselfishly by Omari Hutchinson

Talk about a “bounce back”. Surely that was our best performance of the season so far. What brilliant finishing

Perfect team performance! Mama told me there’d be days like this
Hopefully Wes Burns’ injury isn’t too serious.

Town today with and without the ball were excellent. Hutchinson on fire. Jacksons contribution was very good Broadhead, Burgess, Axel were all impressive. Luongo back to his best. They were all really good. 6 brilliant goals. It was a absolute joy to watch

What a match
What a atmosphere
What a result
Omari Hutchinson absolutely sublime, unplayable, Morsy superb as always. Some of our play today was just breathtaking and I don't think many teams would have lived with us today. So pleasing to keep a clean sheet too. Time to stop talking about the play offs cus we ain't bloody out of this yet !!!!!
Best song of the day........
Who put the ball in the Wednesday net
Who put the ball in the Wednesday net
Who put the ball in the Wednesday net
Half the f**king team did.........

Yep - loved that chant too! Atmosphere was brilliant throughout. Just think how far we have come in 12 months compared to their decline. 6 could have been 8 or 9! Just looking at our subs bench today, I feared for Weds at 0-4 down after less than an hour. Must be so demoralising - fantastic!! Hutch was deffo MOM and deserved a hat-trick but not to be. The rest were great and the Int'l break is now actually a welcome relief - I am on holiday for 2 weeks so good timing! Loved it and we are SO still in the automatic hunt as Leeds will bottle it - they always do....

Love days like this.
Town 3-0 HT 6-0 FT.
That the first time since that 1980 Manure game?
Well done all.

Well, that was a complete load of crap wasnt it guys, lol
Should have been double figures tbh.
Morsy absolutely outstanding, as was young Omari ( I was willing him to get his much deserved hat trick). So the pendulum swings the other way again…but two weeks to recharge the batteries for the players now. ….
Outstanding performance by Town, and the stats show that we maintained our momentum equally in both halves…

The way McKenna spoke in his post game interview it sounds like it could be a bad one. Hopefully not but I would be surprised if he is back for the Blackburn game. If it is a bad one we might not see him for the remainder of the season

It was based on the two teams current form… seemed reasonable assumption before the game…doubt many saw a 6-0 winCharnwood wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 7:23 pmhallamblue wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 7:12 pmWell, that was a complete load of crap wasnt it guys, lol

Re: Championship - Ipswich Town vs Sheffield Wednesday Preview & Matchday Thread
That was a score you didn't expect. All right, imagined we'd win, but not by such a large margin. The players needed to give something back after the defeat in Wales last time out and they responded real well and it's a score and what would be performance all fans of the club wherever you find them can take pride in. Never thought we'd beat Sheffield Wednesday by 6 - 0 in any league, this is easily one of the standout scores for all teams this season including ourselves in the division.
Had Chaplin as first scorer but appears never made it to the field or not available for bench selection. Not sure what the deal is there, may be an injury or something but ordinarily would have expected the player to have been involved for this. Burns took off first half with an injury, let's hope it's something benign and he's back again real soon.
Leeds and LCFC not involved today it seems but would be mighty fine if they both dropped points after this. The automatic promotion objective is back in real focus but kind of need to ask why the hell we couldn't have managed something like today for the trip to Cardiff instead of dropping three then crucial points.

Maybe not 6-0 Liz but I did predict 3-0 even given Wednesday’s recent impressive form. If you were expecting a draw today clearly you’re not expecting us to finish in the top 3 let alone one of the automatic places ?hallamblue wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 9:33 pmIt was based on the two teams current form… seemed reasonable assumption before the game…doubt many saw a 6-0 winCharnwood wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 7:23 pmhallamblue wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 7:12 pmWell, that was a complete load of crap wasnt it guys, lol

It must have been a blast for the home support! Thought we’d win, but never could have guessed by such a margin. Even more important since goal difference could certainly come into play later in the season. All we can do really is take it one match at a time, but if today’s performance is any indication of how we’ll finish the season…look out! COYB!

Re: Championship - Ipswich Town vs Sheffield Wednesday Preview & Matchday Thread
80 goals scored so far this season makes us the top scoring team in English football and gives us a realistic chance of scoring 100 goals in two consecutive seasons in two different leagues. I wonder if that’s ever been done before ? I very much doubt it.
And so the records carry on being made.
1) Points won from a losing position
2) Goals scored by subs
3) Goals scored in the final 15 mins
