Wish I was in Ipswich tonight. Well done everybody. Watched Chelsea v Spurs the other night on Sky. Reckon we could do a job on them both.

Fantastic achievement. From the day KMcK was appointed we have been a different club. This team played proper football, even in League one where some said we would never go up playing in that style. Now we are in the Premier League in what seems like the blink of an eye. Roll on next season. Well need to strengthen the squad of course, but, my God, what an exciting journey we are on.

What a day it’s been, 18 months ago I didn’t think I’d ever see them get out of League One let alone get promoted to the Premier League. Over two seasons we’ve only lost 10 games , scored 193 goals and won 194 points.and 9 of the players who played today played in the final match of the season last year in League One and 8 started both games.

Kieran McKenna you are a genius.

Just shows how decisions at board level can change a club. Birmingham appoint Rooney, Town appoint McKenna. The rest is history

YEEEEEEEEEEASSSSSSSSSSE….ABSOLUTE SCENES In the ground , the town before and after the game. 🥳🥳🥳🥂🎉🥂🎉🥂🎉🥳🥳🥳🥂🎉
I’m still in a state of shock tbh ….. never daring to dream we would do it. I can’t believe or actually work out how we are now 6 points ahead of Leeds… I thought it was much closer than that.

Absolutely spot on. He changed the squad he inherited from a second rate squad into a team playing football the right way. Future acquisitions improved the football still further, but what he did in his first half season here showed that he wanted to play good football.
My only fear is that we need to be able to defend next season, and he hasn’t shown that he can manage that side of the game yet. I don’t think he’s that naïve, but it will need addressing.

Back to today: we could/should have won more comfortably with the chances we created, but it’s job done. Two amazing seasons. Thank you Gamechanger and Kieron McKenna - and all the players. I was thinking before the game, I wonder how many of the squad are trying to get us a promotion that will mean they are no longer wanted.

This was one of the best performances in both halves in complete control. My man of the match was Hutchinson the amount of work rate he did over 90 minutes was excellent, but I will say Huddersfield also worked hard, and if they can keep their squad intact they will do well next season, now comes the time to start bringing in new players up to the premiership standard. I think Chelsea will let us keep Hutchinson on loan, but many will be released in Kieran's build-up over the summer, it has to happen if we are to build a squad like Brentford has done, we are there now let us keep there.
Another thing that impressed me today was at the end the whole squad was celebrating with the fans after two decades of misery at last we are home now who out of WBA, Norwich, Southampton or Leeds will be promoted I think my money is on Saints to perform.

Yes that is the best scenario by far! Just have a feeling Dirty Leeds will get it done though, which I suppose is better than the green and yellow pricks haha.

Hmmm, not so sure about Leeds USATB…. I think they’ve shot their bolt this season now. They’ve not played well for a while tbh, and there’s huge pressure on them to get promotion, but they are a squad full of egos ( totally opposite to Towns squad demographic)….. it’s going to be such a treat to be able to sit and watch these playoff off games and not give a flying one isn’t it .

I know it’s early, but I’m curious how the financial side of things works? Can someone explain when funds will be available for transfers and loans etc.? Thanks

Good question, not sure myself.

Whenever it does and in regards to the Summer window in general, we will not have to get carried away spending no, but will need to bring in imo at least 7 new players and that will not be cheap, even if a couple of those are via loans.

Exciting times ahead to see who we sign for sure and I trust those in charge to bring the right guys in.

Need to change this section of the Tractor Boys forum to:

ITFC, PREMIERSHIP & General Football Chat.

(Has it ever been that in the forums’ lifetime?)

About 10 mins into the game, when I saw no press at all from Huddersfield, the space they were giving our players, I knew it was going to be our day. In the end, it was so much less stressful than I was expecting. HTFC hearts just weren’t in it. We were lucky to have them as our last fixture and not, say, Southampton!
