Re: Other matches.
What I’ve noticed about that game tonight is the insane intensity from the first minute into the now 85mins. It’s been relentless and so bloody quick . Every player isn’t just running, they’re sprinting!

Re: Other matches.
They had one of our other (ex) players (who didn't quite work out here) but unable to quite recall the one in question. It may have been McGoldrick and if so believe he was there last season if not the one before. Often happens, someone at Town doesn't quite reach their potential or misses out and then goes on to perform better elsewhere. I just viewed him surplus in the end but wish him well with any new team set-up.
English F.A Cup supposed to get underway in January but truth is it begins around July and August of all things and there's preliminary games ongoing now. You got to take a moment to appreciate some of the involvement here. Club names with absolute zero chance of getting far or can only dream of a third round appearance - but there's team names there such as Aylestone Park, Winterton, Ashby Ivanhoe, Roman Glass, Hartpury University and Mousehole of all things.
Guess that's what romance of the competition is all about but for all names mentioned, none of which will be remembered by first week in January and been long since eliminated. That's a kind of shame. Mousehole / Chelsea final event could have really been something.

Re: Other matches.
Nicely taken goal. Boro's defenders probably didn't bother trying to catch him!

I think we can get a result from Chelsea & Spurs, especially at home.hallamblue wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 10:40 pmUnfortunately Leicester nicked a point tonight from a rampant , but typical ( c*ck it up if you can), Spurs!

Re: Other matches.
You only had to see the post match interview with Postawhateverhisnameis after the match to see what he thought of the Spurs performance in the second half, but you had to give it to the Leicester team for trying to take advantage of Spurs profligacy in front of goal and hanging on in there and not chasing the game and giving away a second goal which would have killed them off. Lesson for us in the future when we go behind as we inevitably will on plenty of occasions this season??

Re: Other matches.
Watching the Yorkshire derby (Sheffield Weds vs Leeds), and although Leeds are winning 2-0 it looks a poor game from two sides that look average to me. Leeds not a patch on what they were last season.

Luton continuing to struggle. 2-1 down at home to QPR currently.

Re: Other matches.
You can't pass by without mention of a resounding Celtic victory over Rangers in the SPL from today and while it's always a pleasure to behold there's an inevitable outcome to it regards the league finish that's been persistent for the best part of 40 years. So with that you got to give plaudits to Aberdeen for 4 wins from 4 games and challenging right now for leadership of the division. It's common knowledge to some but distant to many the latter were in fact the last club name outside of Old Firm to win the league (1985)
It's unlikely they'll accomplish it this time around or indeed era but got to admit the start made is a refreshing relief at least to neutrals and adds spice to the early running. English Premier League games, scores, results etc this weekend have been mixed. I don't like MCFC much and Haaland caused us considerable damage a week or two back, but somehow have to admit they posses a player there of tremendous caliber and achievement. Beat an opposition team also that don't care much for, so all said and done, he and they did well.

Jackon scored again this week, also Greg Leigh got on the scoresheet for Oxford.
Oh and Lee Evans got 2 assists in Blackpools 2-2 draw.

Re: Other matches.
Having watched Liverpools demolition of Man United at Old Trafford this afternoon maybe our 0-2 loss on the opening day of the season wasn’t too bad. In fact our opening two opponents are joint leaders of the EPL and both are undefeated with 3 straight wins and Liverpool have also kept 3 clean sheets.
Man. City P3 W3 D0 L0 F9 A2 Pts 9
Liverpool P3 W3 D0 L0 F7 A0 Pts 9

Re: Other matches.
Was thinking along the same lines myself just now. Liverpool looked pretty sensational and seemed to dismantle ManU at will. I think we should be rightfully proud of how we've started the season when you look at the bigger picture.Charnwood wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2024 10:55 pmHaving watched Liverpools demolition of Man United at Old Trafford this afternoon maybe our 0-2 loss on the opening day of the season wasn’t too bad. Same here, our first half performance against Liverpool was way better than anything Man Utd could muster.

Re: Other matches.
One thing most likely is that Erik Ten Hag won’t still be there. Not sure who will go first, Sean Dyche of Ten Hag, although the later might be saved by two kind fixtures coming up at Southampton and Crystal Palace.

Re: Other matches.
Not sure if right place to include it but what the hell. Caught news item last day or so that Luis Suarez is set to retire from international "football" and in a sense it's a shame as he became over time Uruguay's most influential player and probably set and achieved scoring records. Last game set to be later this week. Uruguay in recent years were on the verge of World Cup Finals, performed admirably in South American tournaments etc and Suarez undoubtedly played a pivotal part in reaching such stages.
Back in Europe Ronaldo just keeps going on, pushing 40 years of age and still wants to be part of the Portugal national team set-up. Thought after the recent Euro Championships was set to step down and retire but by all account he's going to continue and looks ready to appear and feature at the next World Cup. You may not like the player but credit where it's due you got there a tremendous asset for any club name be it domestic or national. You have to provide a certain recognition or plaudit to the player in wishing (by now) to further an international career.

No game time for Philogene again yesterday, a ridiculous move.
