Re: Other matches.
Pleased to learn Norwich struggling thus far this season. They just don't seem equipped at all and after a number of high profile names left the club during close season, seems they got problems filling necessary voids. Swansea didn't even score yesterday to beat them, took an own goal to win it but so long as they lose and continue a struggle then it's all well and good.
Aberdeen five wins from five in the SPL. Not something all can recognize but it's something unprecedented if not absurd after recent years of struggle and falling behind many fans recollection of previous expectation. There's just one major obstacle in their way if they ever hope to be Champions once again but ready to admit, they've sure done well thus far for themselves.

Re: Other matches.
Newcastle score 2 stunners thus afternoon, to beat Wolves...which is just what we needed ( sorry John!).
Yes AG narwich have list most of their better players as expected. There's rumours they're also could be losing Sargent (striker). I think the pressure will start to mount for their new manager if they dont start to pick up points soon.
Here's hoping they'll struggle. I've no time for them

HallamBlue, not always the master of understatement pulls out a classic.
I reckon in all the years I've been on here this is the nicest thing you've ever said about Naaarwich "I've no time for them". Are you on Meds?

Re: Other matches.
Oxford United earned a third Championship win of the season as they beat Stoke City 1-0 at the Kassam Stadium with a 48 min goal from former Town player Idris El Mizouri his first goal for his new team which also included Greg Leigh who has now established himself as a regular starter.

Re: Other matches.
Fans of a certain age can recall Oxford being a good team side, even being a top level club name etc before they fell away towards the end of the 1980's. A number of ex-high profile players would have started their career there and for a short time at least they saw glory and achieved notable success. Shame it couldn't last but they're now making their way back (and) whichever way you look at it, is good to see.
Kids today would not accept it but they won a Cup Final by three clear goals at the national stadium some years back. Maybe that could never be repeated but take this opportunity to wish them well. Would be real good to see them back as a top league club name once again.

Random but I see Philogene isn’t even in the squad for villa tonight? I know Mike mentioned he hasn’t played. I guess he hasn’t kicked a ball for them yet - not injured?

Wolves threw it away at Villa. It's as you were in the table, i believe.

Ooh, even better
Even at this very early stage those bottom 3 GDs don't look healthy.

Re: Other matches.
That was short lived with Palace holding Man Utd to a 0-0 draw thanks tons MOTM performance from Dean Henderson in goal.

Re: Other matches.
Manchester United have suffered more defeats in London since Ferguson stepped down as manager than the whole time when was in place from 1986 - 2013. All right they may not have lost on this occasion but years back they'd make a trip like that and ordinarily take victory from it. Not even in this seasons Champions League reboot if correct so it's a kind of pity, but their mess to sort out.
No chance in hell they can hope to be Champions again any time soon. Went 26 years without winning it or something at one time or another, it could well be a similar time span once again. They're a very poor imitation of what was only just over a decade back.

Re: Other matches.
I was hoping to get to watch Cameron Humpfeys play against Villa tonight in the League Cup but Wycombe havd made 9 changes from Saturday.
Even more surprising Ben Chilwell can’t even get a start against Barrow. What chance is there for him at Chelsea, talk about a player bring out of favour. I wonder if it has anything to do with him leaving Leicester City for Chelsea. Nothing else makes sense.

Re Chilwell - why would that be the case - it was long before Maresca was anywhere near Leicester?
What about our mate - Philogene - is he playing?

Re: Other matches.
No, not even on the bench. Zero starts so far and two late sub appearances adding up to a grand total of circa 20 mins including added time. Earnings per minute must be massive.shabba wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 8:16 pmResting their star playerCharnwood wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 7:51 pmI was hoping to get to watch Cameron Humpfeys play against Villa tonight in the League Cup but Wycombe havd made 9 changes from Saturday.

Re: Other matches.
Ben Chilwell got 45 mins tonight (second half) for Chelsea. Hard to measure his well he played again poor opposition.
I still think he’d be an incredible loan acquisition in January if he’s still out of favour.
