Axel
Just hearing from my friend who has a contact at the club, that Axel has cut a thumb tendon on a knife, and could be out potentially, for months.
I just pray and hope not, that's our PL status right there!

Re: Axel
I guess we don’t know how serious the injury is or what further damage or complications could arise if he played and, say for example, fell on it with all his weight. It may be possible to put a cast on it to prevent further damage but I’m not sure even if that’s allowed.
I think it maybe one of those bizarre incidents that just happen from time to time that just have to be managed. It’s just fortunate that after Liam Delap he’s one if our most important/valuable assets that we have little cover for. We can only hope that Ben Johnson will improve as he gets more minutes under his belt.

Yes, I was hoping the same when I heard a few days ago. Ive been burying my head in the sand a bit. It'll depend how bad it is, but a thumb tendon is much more serious than a finger, as it completely affects gripping function. But itll take months of rehab. They certainly can't play him if he has a hand / thumb splint on ( I kept trying to reason they could)..... we just have to hope it's not a complete tendon severance. He'll have had surgery already, it's time critical.

Bit like The Beat and the frying on incident. That killed us that season too, from memory!Charnwood wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 9:03 pmI guess we don’t know how serious the injury is or what further damage or complications could arise if he played and, say for example, fell on it with all his weight. Yeah it's obviously complicated, but from the reports of Ben Johnson, Tuanzebe might be the better option with his arm in an sling taped across his chest! I wonder how Harry Clarke is getting on...
Something about a glass table and maybe a player fell out a loft hatch at some point?! I'm sure it was the sort of Richard Wright, Marcus Stewart era there were a couple of odd incidents too?!!

Oh, yes, Wright fell out of his lift and did his shoulder ( not good for a GK,eh!) .... wasn't MS belted for having an affair with another players wife, or was that a different player?Ricco wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 9:16 pmYeah it's obviously complicated, but from the reports of Ben Johnson, Tuanzebe might be the better option with his arm in an sling taped across his chest! EADT.
Manager Kieran McKenna stated afterwards that he had suffered an 'unfortunate hand injury' that required surgery and would keep him out of action for 'quite a while'.
The Daily Mail reports that the 26-year-old was washing up last week when a glass smashed and caused a deep laceration. The report adds that 'there were concerns at the time that Tuanzebe could lose his thumb as a result of the incident but thankfully medics have been able to save his digit after surgery'.

So easily done isn't it. It's a very bad injury. So I'm thinking several weeks if not months. Poor fella.

Can you imagine it? He finally gets a good run of games, free of football related injuries, only to suffer a domestic injury! Feel so sorry for him.hallamblue wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 2:53 pmSo easily done isn't it. It's a very bad injury. So I'm thinking several weeks if not months. Poor fella.

Yeah, that's a bloody nightmare for him, sorry about the pun.
If they were worried about saving his thumb, then that sounds more like severed arteries/nerves, not just tendon like it sounded originally (though obviously they're all in the same vicinity.
I'm chatting crap here because I don't have a single day's medical training, but I'd imagine that would be 6 weeks recovery minimum, probably more like 2 months and up to 3 months??
