Check out OTIB, Another Mark Ashton Thread. It's a year or two outdated but still relevant. Provides answers as to why many City fans view him as undesirable. He did some fine things no doubt and brought a level of improvement but at the same time caused a level of unrest, upset a number of the fan base et cetera. Worth viewing if only to provide some answers.marko69 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 2:14 pmYes, I was definitely in the “ok, what’s this guy done wrong” camp when he appeared on the scene. Still can’t figure out the root cause of the blatant abuse he got from Bristol City fans. Can only put it down to them blaming everyone including the canteen staff for their state of affairs.
One thing for sure is that he certainly knows his stuff. Which in reality is all that should matter. In any other job, that IS ALL that matters. But in times of adversity? Hmmm.
Like the guy named Alex in Bexleyheath, London who managed to fk up an entire contract before it even started, and it all coming to light AFTER 12 squads of 3 engineers rocked up to start on the Monday from all over the UK!In meetings, Alex was THE MAN! But Alex turned out not be the man.
Another major unfortunate, and no doubt trapped somewhere in my subconscious mind……. Mash & Alex are doppelgängers!![]()

Wish you hadn't have told me about the OTIB forum, Saint. Certainly makes for some quite unsettling reading. Jaysus H Christ, they can't ALL be wrong about ITFC's Mash!arana peligrosa wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 2:55 pmCheck out OTIB, Another Mark Ashton Thread. It's a year or two outdated but still relevant. Years ago, my brother was giving some serious thought in going back with a girlfriend who'd cheated. Overhead the dad giving him that age old advice, "A leopard never changes its spots, son!" Getting that feeling with Mash. And that on top of not warming to the guy anyway.
As long as Ipswich Town Football Club continue to prosper and Mash continues with the commercial side of things ONLY, then all will be ok. He seems to be doing that anyway, so all is ok.
