Congratulations to Ipswich Town record goalscorer who celebrated his 89th birthday yesterday 13 July.
Ray scored 203 goals for town during his 11yr spell with the club from 1958 to 1969. Rather worryingly I remember him signing for us and watching him score many of his goals.
I’m not sure if he lives in the Suffolk area but I know he still occasionally visits Portman Road or at least did so until very recently.
Happy Birthday Ray.

Was kind of fearing the worst once viewing the title but he's OK. Town legend, icon status, player of tremendous capability. If not for him and Phillips we would never have won League Championship back in '62. How much would he be worth today in present time exaggerated transfer market, you can't quite put a price on it. Him and Phillips together, 100 million and then some but depends how you view it.

Remember him also for part of the Colchester team that overcame Leeds United in that famous Cup game some years after. Crawford was, and is, great, it's a relief he's still with us. He (now) goes to our games also ? That's tremendous, what a character.
