A place to chat about anything thats not football related. Most of the threads in here are completely pointless which is why people keep coming back and back. As the forum title suggests, feel free to make any post you want on any subject you wish. It also has Adult jokes (so be warned) which is the other reason people keep coming back.

Played that album (Parklife) a lot when it first came out.
Today’s goodies, picked up for 50p each in a charity shop on Orkney , The Beach Boys “L. A. (Light Album” And Earl Hines “Piano Man 1928-1955”.
Whoa, the Light Album. Don't think The Beach Boys ever made an album without something horrible on it, but then are the real gems too even in their banter era. The 11 minute disco version of Here Comes The Night is ... different. No Brian as he was in bed for a couple of years but this one's saved by the brother's songs. 50p is fair

.
One LP from that period which I do like is The Beach Boys Love You. Brian got out of bead and made a synth-pop LP.
Johnny Carson is a bit mental though.
Yes, I was never a huge beach boys fan despite liking harmonies. I think I have half a dozen of their albums plus several best ofs. I did like Good Vibrations and God Only Knows. But as you say, 50p was worth a gamble! On a short break from home at the moment so haven’t played it yet, have to confess it’s not an album I know.
I saw a vinyl reissue of the first May Blitz album yesterday too, but wasn’t prepared to pay the £20 asking price.

And today I picked up a couple of Tom Rush LPs in Belfast. Will have to wait until I get home next week to listen, added to the pile awaiting a first play.

My listening lately has at times strayed perilously close to '70s British country rock territory, Brinsley Schwarz and Ronnie Lane's Slim Chance. Stuff I wouldn't have given time to listen to in the day.
Here's Ronnie Lane with
The Poacher.

Always loved that Ronnie Lane track.
I only had one Brinsley Shwarz album at the time, but picked up a 5-cd Original Albums Series box of 5 of their albums a few years back. All good stuff.

Got to Brinsley Schwarz through Nick Lowe's back catalogue. Always liked him, he can write a tune.

Yes, all good stuff. Brinsley Schwarz himself and Bob Andrews went on to form the Rumour, who joined up with Graham Parker as Graham Parker And The Rumour, a band I always liked.
Piece if trivia: after Fleetwood Mac released the Rumours album, the Rumour released an E.P. titled Max

Can't tell you how many times the periodic table has come in handy since I left school.

My daughter is majoring in chemistry at Ohio State, I just sent her that
So, I grew up a metal head in the 80s. I liked Duran Duran songs but didn’t really follow them as I wrote them off as a boy band. I just saw them two weeks ago at Blossom in Cleveland and they were phenomenal. How Simon Lebon sounds so good at 63 or so is amazing!

Exactly same for me, Ohio. Appreciated the Durans were decent back in the 80s while going to see Slayer etc
These days, I love Duran Duran. Play them regularly in the car. Kids & grandkids will freak out when i occasionally melt the f*ck down and blast some “Reign in Blood”
