Wk.8. ROYAL ASCOT,

A place to chat about anything thats not football related. Most of the threads in here are completely pointless which is why people keep coming back and back. As the forum title suggests, feel free to make any post you want on any subject you wish. It also has Adult jokes (so be warned) which is the other reason people keep coming back.

The Hardwicke Stakes,

The Hardwicke Stakes is a Group 2 flat horse race in Great Britain open to horses aged four years or older. It is run at Ascot over a distance of 1 mile 3 furlongs and 211 yards (2,406 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in June.
The event is named in honour of the 5th Earl of Hardwicke, who served as the Master of the Buckhounds in the 19th century. It was established in 1879, and it was originally open to horses aged three or older. The last three-year-old to win was Helioscope in 1949.
The Hardwicke Stakes is now held on the final day of the five-day Royal Ascot meeting. The leading horses often return to the venue to compete in the following month's King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. The first to win both races in the same year was Aureole in 1954, and the most recent was Harbinger in 2010.

The Diamond Jubilee Stakes ..Royal Ascot 2020 -

The Diamond Jubilee Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in Great Britain open to horses aged four years or older. Three-year-olds foaled in the Southern Hemisphere are also eligible. It is run at Ascot over a distance of 6 furlongs (1,207 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in June.
he event was established in 1868, and it was originally called the All-Aged Stakes. It was renamed the Cork and Orrery Stakes in 1926, in honour of the 9th Earl of Cork, who served as the Master of the Buckhounds in the 19th century.
The race was renamed to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in 2002. From this point it held Group 1 status. In 2012 the race was given its current name, Diamond Jubilee Stakes, to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II
The Diamond Jubilee Stakes became part of a new international race series, the Global Sprint Challenge, in 2005. In 2013 it was the sixth leg of the series, preceded by the King's Stand Stakes and followed by the July Cup.

HARDWICKE STAKES
COMMENTS
Albaflora Returns to the scene of her impressive Listed success on soft ground
Bangkok Last three wins came over 1m2f on Lingfield's Polytrack; below par back on turf last time
Broome In cracking form at about 1m2f this season; major player if proving as good back over 1m4f
Deja Disappointing behind Albaflora over C&D six weeks ago; stiff task
Highest Ground Won at Leicester last week; still unexposed at 1m4f; trainer has superb Hardwicke record
Hukum Won at this meeting last year; looks the type to rate higher yet; respected back here
Ilaraab Won handicap at York on seasonal debut, taking record to 6-7; highly progressive
Japan Below-par third in Coronation Cup; very good chance if able to show his 3yo form
Logician Has serious back class, having won the 2019 St Leger; each-way chance granted a revival
Mogul Yet to find his top form this term; suffered a heavy defeat in the Coronation Cup
Pablo Escobarr Listed/Group 3 winner; addition of visor needs to prompt a clear career best
Sir Ron Priestley Beaten favourite in the Yorkshire Cup but is largely progressive; remains of interest
Thunderous Not disgraced the last twice but needs improvement in first-time headgear
Tiger Moth Second in last year's Irish Derby and Melbourne Cup; gurgled badly on reappearance
Wonderful Tonight Group 1 winner here when last seen; improving filly but ideally needs plenty of rain.
...................................................................

Diamond Jubilee Stakes
COMMENTS
Art Power Impressive at this meeting last year; has come up short in Group 1s but not written off
Dream Of Dreams Beaten a head in each of the last two runnings and he holds leading claims
Emaraaty Ana Close third in two Group 3s this spring but mid-division at York last time; up against it
Final Song Went close in Group 1 in Dubai in March but down the field in the Duke Of York since
Garrus As good as ever this spring after long absence but was no match for Dream Of Dreams latest
Glen Shiel Won Group 1 Champions Sprint over C&D on soft; could have a say if the ground is testing
Happy Power Two-time 7f Group-race winner; pacy and could make a sprinter but now needs to prove it
Nahaarr Ayr Gold Cup winner who was neck second to Starman in the Duke Of York; respected
Namos German trainer has enjoyed success in British sprints but this raider looks vulnerable
Royal Commando Improved form when Listed winner at Doncaster on return; needs another step forward today
Sonaiyla Won a Group 3 at the Curragh 17 days ago but a career best is required today
Starman Sole defeat came on soft ground over C&D; won York Group 2 on return; key player
Summerghand In fine form in the visor; behind two of these at York last time but Ascot may suit better
Ventura Rebel Has quite a bit to find but is unexposed in the cheekpieces and Ascot brings out his best

.Hardwicke Stakes

https://www.timeform.com/royal-ascot/ra ... cke-stakes
HUKUM

HUKUM created a good impression when winning one of the most competitive three-year-old handicaps of the season over C&D 12 months ago, and having shaped like a horse who has got more to offer when winning at Goodwood last time, is taken to follow up. Wonderful Tonight handles testing conditions so she's feared most if the rain materialises, ahead of the progressive Ilaraab.

Betting Forecast : 4/1 BROOME, 6/1 ILARAAB, 15/2 HUKUM, 10/1 JAPAN, 11/1 LOGICIAN, 12/1 SIR RON PRIESTLEY, 14/1 WONDERFUL TONIGHT, , 18/1 HIGHEST GROUND, 18/1 ALBAFLORA, 33/1 THUNDEROUS, 100/1 DEJA, 100/1 PABLO ESCOBARR

...............................................................................................................
Jubilee Stakes

Dream Of Dreams

The 7yo DREAM OF DREAMS has gone very close in the last two runnings and can land this illustrious prize at the third attempt, having broken his Group 1 duck in the Sprint Cup at Haydock last September. Starman and Nahaarr fought out a tight finish to the Duke Of York Stakes last month and are the likely dangers, with the winner Starman narrowly feared most provided conditions aren't too testing. Ventura Rebel was fifth on his reappearance in that York race but could be the best each-way play today, as he likes it here and remains unexposed in the cheekpieces. The return to Ascot could also be a plus for Duke Of York fourth Summerghand, who is another each-way contender. Soft-ground C&D Champions Sprint winner Glen Shiel can go well if the ground is testing.

Betting Forecast : 3/1 DREAM OF DREAMS, 3/1 STARMAN, 13/2 NAHAARR, 10/1 ART POWER, 12/1 GLEN SHIEL, 25/1 ROYAL COMMANDO, 28/1 SUMMERGHAND, 33/1 SONAIYLA, 40/1 FINAL SONG, 40/1 NAMOS, , 50/1 HAPPY POWER, 50/1 GARRUS, 50/1 VENTURA REBEL
