Re: Murray
Well that is clearly hypothetical, and saying hypothetical stuff tends to consist more bollocks than mere predictions.
Like I've said above , Mike....., I'm not disputing Murrays ability. I never have. And I know who's good at what and on what surface. It's having the nerve to win Wimbledon. Will he do it? I don't think he will. That's not bollocks buddy, that's just how I see it. I'll be delighted if he proves me wrong and wins it for Scot....., err, Britain, next Sunday.

Re: Murray
Was just having some tea and toast there whilst listening to an Andy Murray interview on Radio 2 after his win yesterday. I almost fell asleep. I slumped forward and headbutted the rim of my cup, which of course, woke me up again.

Re: Murray
Marko, I'm surprised you are questioning Murray's bottle in respect of being able to win Wimbledon. The man has tons of guts and bottle, that has never really been his problem.

Re: Murray
Ok. He has ability. And he has guts and bottle. But "something"...., fk knows what, ......, but "something" in his head will prevent him from winning Wimbledon. He has the beating of Jock itch in him......, but he won't.

Re: Murray
That was a real scare. He didn't play great and Verdasco was just going for everything and had nothing to lose. In a way I think he needed a real tough match like that where he pulled it out despite being under the kosh at times. Still, he needs to get through the semi a lot easier so that he is fresh for the final as Djoko is looking in great nick.

Re: Murray
That was something else. Verdasos 2nd serves were frightening. Well done to Murray, and definitely correct that he needs an easier semi final.

Re: Murray
As everyone has said you dont win Wimbledon without a scare along the way, I have never seen a guy hit so mnay second serves like they were first serves the way Verdasco did.
Herb, I dont think Novak has looked himself at times though, yes he is still bloody good but he seems to be having lapses in form during games which against a better player would have cost him dear.

Re: Murray
Well that semi final has got me pumped. Well done to Itch and very unlucky Del Potro....., I'm a new fan of him now. Let's do this Murray, come on.

Re: Murray
Whilst I've never been a great fan of Murray I'd really like to see him win his first Wimbledon title and end Britain's 77-year-wait for a men's champion on Sunday. He's most certainly our best hope for many years and will need to do it sometime soon given the new batch of talent ready to break through in the next couple of years.

Re: Murray
Herbivore, I'm man enough to say that I really cannot bet against Andy Murray today......, not because I think he will win, but because I'm desperate that he wins!! Just can't bring myself to bet against him. Another reason is my wife is away at a spa weekend thing with her mother and few pals, and they are all decked out in "Murray" attire for today, T shirts and stuff......., win it for them Andy!

Re: Murray
2 sets up now, if he can get an early break in the third set it could all be over. Can't take anything for granted against Djoko though, if anyone can come from 2 sets down to win a Slam final then it's him.

I can't believe I placed a bet on Murray to win but at 11/8 the odds looked quite attractive. I really dislike the bloke and if it wasn't for the benefit of British sport I'd like to see him get stuffed 3 sets to 2.

Re: Murray
A great performance by Murray, what a sportsman he is, his fitness levels are awesome. The world number one had no answer to his power. I am really please for Murray, the pressure we as a nation put on him every year is massive. He now holds two of the four majors and the Olympic Gold medal, without doubt the best player on the planet right now.
What muppett was it that said he didnt have the bottle to win Wimbledon ????

Re: Murray
Fantastic performance by Murray and nobody can question his determination and utter desire to win.
I still detest the bloke but at least he's improved my bank betting account balance by a few quid.
Well done Andy, maybe this time next year it will be Sir Andy?

Re: Murray
Yes, well done Andy. Great for Great Britain...., and even better for Scotland. Quite proud of that. Again, well done. You had plenty bottle today.
Best player on the planet right now? Hmmmm,...., that statement has a slight "Muppetness" about it, Mike. When you say right now....., I assume you mean as in, today? He'll be the best player on the planet when he can add a few more titles and defend it next year...., and maybe win in Paris.

Re: Murray
Many of the experts in the tennis worls are proclaiming him as the best there is at this present time, the fact speaks for themselves so i suggest you go wipe some of mthat egg off your face and be big enough to admit you got it totally wrong.

Re: Murray
I'd say that at present there is very little to choose between Murray and Djoko, although Djoko is generally more consistent across the year. They are both better than anyone else at the moment, except Nadal on clay.

Re: Murray
I would agree with you but on the last two finals between the two Murray has been victorious. Lets not be afraid to actually have a tennis player that is British and the best, it is fabulous.Herbivore wrote:I'd say that at present there is very little to choose between Murray and Djoko, although Djoko is generally more consistent across the year. Re: Murray
He hasn't, Djoko beat him in Australia in January so they are 1-1 in their last two major finals. Basically I think Murray is better on grass, Djoko is better on clay, and on hard courts there is nothing between them. Djoko is number 1 because of his relative success on clay, where Murray tends to struggle.bluemike wrote:I would agree with you but on the last two finals between the two Murray has been victorious. Sorry, my mistake. Yeah there lies the problem for Murray, I dont ever see him conquering the clay surface.

I don't normally quote myself, but the bit in bold is kind of an admission that I was wrong. No eggs on my face. Plenty beer and scotch eggs in celebration though!marko69 wrote:Yes, well done Andy. I personally feel that with Jock Itch, Nadz and even Federer still competing, there is no "best player on the planet" at the moment. The last two eras of "best player on the planet" was Federer and Sampras......, we are not in an era where there is any best player. Can you honestly see Murray doing what Roger & Pete have done? When he is in the middle of a five time Wimbledon streak, then he'll be a candidate. Good on em though......, I liked the "Saint Andrew" headlines in the paper.
