The one in La Paz (Bolivia) has the highest altitude I remember reading so could be something along those lines. What the actual name of it is I don't know.

Yes Lucy you have to give clues to a soccer venue, it can be in the UK, mainland Europe or anywhere else in the World.
Not necessarily by pictures - it was intended to only give a description by way of a number of clues

If you have time to google all my answers, Saint..... You'll see they are all areas around my beloved Easter Road.

Yes I noticed Princess Lucille of SoFuck has decided to join in. And she done well answering the question. Can I ask......, why does it have to be football venues only? There are thousands of venues from different sports to choose from.

Re: Where is that venue
I felt it wasn't best suited for the general soccer index, this is a quiz thing rather than general talk so included it where I believed it to be it's rightful place.lucy wrote:Being in General Sport section I would of thought it's any Sport...
I wanted it to be "football" only as I got the idea from a Sports publication I was reading that featured a section of the Worlds greatest soccer stadia. Maybe in time if participation continues it can be amended to accomodate other sporting endeavors but for now content to concentrate on the one field of activity alone.
It makes for any response easier also i.e. narrows the possibility of a correct answer without having to deviate away from the one sport in question.

It is something along those lines

Visiting fans leaving breathless makes me think it's Shitecastle....., (I always leave there breathless due to the f**king smell) but that doesn't hold 40K.
Another clue may be required Blueblood.

Yeah good answer and Middlesbrough is a very industrial town hence the breathless bit. (Smoke and factories)goldandblack wrote:ayresome park.
Don't remember either Brazil or Argentina having a loss there, although Italy in '66 has been well documented.
I think it's in South America somewhere although South Africa has also flashed into the running. You know to hell with it, going for the old stadium in Munich (the Olympiastadion) A few of the clues at least add up to something.

Re: Where is that venue
yeah I realised after those 2 teams had'nt lost there, but the old memory is not so good these days. I always remember North Korea qualifying from that group back in 66, with a fella called PAT DU IK scoring shed loads of goals . (spelling not that good lol.) think they were 3 up v Portugal in the next round, saint jude wrote:Yeah good answer and Middlesbrough is a very industrial town hence the breathless bit. BLUEBLOOD, When you say over 40,000 the stadium holds, is that just over 40k or could it be a trick question
I remember the Argy's losing to Ecuador but don't know the stadium without looking it up. my guess is St la Itsbloody le Hotinere perhaps...
didn't FIFA ban world cups there because that cheating argy with the hand instead of a head started whinging.
How about Estadio Hernando Siles....

Re: Where is that venue
try this one then..
1.The Stadium was built in 1938.
2..The club that played here was a bit mixed up with its identity as a place.
3.. But in the last 5 years they were proved they were just ahead of there time,
4. This Stadium is no longer with us.
5 Anglo Italian Cup games were played here.
