Two great bands there Herbi...
Seen both play live, who would ever believe Pink Floyd played at Stowmarket in the mid 60's!

Brian Eno's 'Ascent'.
PF's 'Wish You Were Here' is probably my fav song. I still remember listening to it for the first time; I thought something was wrong with the radio(that's Wireless for you OAPs).

I saw Bowie live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina! I still sing Space Oddity out loud when it comes on. People driving by must think I'm a nutter!vaalae wrote:Didn't get the reference at first, had to think about the start of the song. Awesome tune!Number 9 wrote:Brian Eno's 'Ascent'.

I read somewhere once that WYWH was Roger Water's ode to Syd Barrett. I don't know if it's true.Riviera wrote:Cracking tune, i heard it first time on a radiogramNumber 9 wrote:Brian Eno's 'Ascent'.

Re: What are you listening to?
Think that's right, he was kicked out before The Dark Side of The Moon, their lives were obviously changed for ever by that album. They wrote "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" about him and obviously wished he was there to share the lives that they now had.Number 9 wrote:I read somewhere once that WYWH was Roger Water's ode to Syd Barrett. The rest of the album (WYWH) deals with the jump to fame and the associated pressures / execs [Welcome to the Machine & Have a Cigar]
"And by the way, which one's Pink?"
Really great album WYWH...might have to listen to it now!

.... It's a close run thing this song versus 'Puff the magic dragon' which was Alex's previous most favourite song. Both of them I now know off by heart

Re: What are you listening to?
Was listening to Jo Wiley on Radio 2, she had a member from Mumford & Sons as guest. She was asking why did he think they had conquered Anerica so easy. The guy said he didn't know and it's a mystery to them. I almost phoned in and answered that question for him. They sound like a feckin redneck, deep south outfit with some of their sh*t. I find the confusion confusing.
