What are you listening to?

A place to chat about anything thats not football related. Most of the threads in here are completely pointless which is why people keep coming back and back. As the forum title suggests, feel free to make any post you want on any subject you wish. It also has Adult jokes (so be warned) which is the other reason people keep coming back.

Its an original, but as with their early songs, it was a rip off - this time of Extremes "More than words"

Seriously, music is like a diary. So much brings back memories. I wonder if that's why so many of us never really move on from the music of our late teens / early twenties.
I was thinking the same thing the other day Andy, I believe music from your early adulthood defines your playlists forever.
Very true. Was in Glenrothes a couple weeks ago doing a boiler course,...... was sitting in the van around 8:30am reading over the boiler literature...... then I heard The Prodigy’s “Diesel Power” blasting from somewhere.
Then another engineer guy I know, 53 year old, grey hair, pulled into the car park, window down, prodigy blasting!
He said, “Do I look like a proper tit blasting this music at my age, Markie boy?!”
Was hilarious.

Hell yeah he did, marko! He is my age and should be listening to something much more refined, something like Sweating Bullets from Megadeth.

 Nice!

On a side note marko, I was watching Destination Unknown last night and he was in Scotland at some Scottish games. I was quite impressed with the wide array of items you all like to throw around, such as rocks, stones, darts, poles, hagiss(es?). Made me want to come over and participate, then hit the pubs that were shown!

Yes, although (darts aside) sometimes other things get thrown in the pubs also! Not so much nowadays because the traditional “local” pubs are becoming less and less, making way for retail park places like Frankie & Bennys etc.

But when I stayed in South Edinburgh...... pool balls were chucked around quite a lot at the local. I remember one night, the pub landlord, who was from Newcastle, was very proud of his new Newcastle Brown Ale mirror which was on the wall behind the bar. The mirror was massive and in the corner was a Newcastle United club badge. The well known local headcase was in one Friday night, got Flippin steaming and threw a cue ball right into the mirror. My goodness me, what a memorable night that was for the wrong reasons.

So yes, they invented “games” so that arseholes like him could chuck stuff and it’d be “ok”!

Frankie and Bennys? Hmmm, the pubs in the UK are so cool looking, no reason for that!

What happened to the hothead? I bet the owner was pissed (angry in America). Did he go to the local hooskow? It is a good thing someone made a sport of it for you in an open field lol

A brawl broke out, somebody ended up getting stabbed, it was mayhem. Thankfully that pub is now a Tesco Metro.
I heard through the grapevine that the pool ball throwing guy died in his 30s quite a few years ago. I actually felt sorry for him because he was the youngest of about 5 brothers (by about 7 years) and he just didn’t stand a chance in life having that type of family. Was always going to turn out for the worst. Spent the majority of his youth visiting siblings in prison. No life at all. It’s a real shame.

Going to give this a listen later on, 9. But I must ask........ is it music to keep you down? Or is it stuff to lift you the f*ck up from being down? Nothing worse than being down and hearing depressing sh*t.

It’s very easy to listen to...simple lyrics, acoustic...sometimes humorous and real.

I totally recommend Stephen Lynch! Funny, irreverent, down rut rude, but a lovely singer/guitar player with a wicked sense of humour!

Netflix releasing the film version of The Dirt, Motley Crue's story. Really looking forward to it, the book was awesome!

My cousin told me about this a few weeks ago. Any idea when it’s being released?

That’ll be a “do not disturb” moment watching that. 👌👍🤘

Takes me years to read books, Ohio. Mainly because I need to re-read what I read the night before!

Looking forward to watching this over the weekend though. See all the shenanigans that went on with the best glam rock band ever!

I didn't recognize the name, but I have seen him before. He is great! Kurt Vile is not a comedian, but some of his lyrics are humorous...Peeping Tom for example.

Peeping Tomboy
Kurt Vile
I don't wanna change but I don't wanna stay the same
I don't wanna go but I'm runnin'
I don't wanna work but I don't wanna sit around
All day frownin'
I don't wanna give up but I kinda wanna lie down
When I sleep just rest
Give me a break how much does it really take
To get my head outta here
I been searchin'
I don't know what for
I came across some girl
She was a tom boy
And I was a peepin' tom on that scene
I was a peepin' tom you know what I mean
I was a, I was a, I was a, I was a,
I don't wanna go but its a one way street with me
So I've been told and I'm goin'
When I'm down I would never come around
But you should be kind and read my mind
I been searchin'
I don't know what for
She was a tom boy
And I admired her
And I was a peepin' tom on that scene
I was a peepin' tom you know what I mean
I was a, I was a, I was a, I was a
I don't wanna change but I don't wanna stay the same
I don't wanna go but I'm runnin'
I don't wanna work but I don't wanna sit around
All day frownin'

Not managed to watch the film yet, Ohio. Have you? If so, any good?

Director was nervous watching it with Sixx & Lee, but got hugs after it. Must be an accurate portrayal.

Watched it twice. Being my favorite band, I knew alot of their story already. It condenses a lot of thing for time sake, but overall is a good portrayal of their lives. A lot of T and A, I read some chick who stated in a review that it was mysogenistic and treated women like objects.

It's Motley effing Crue and the 80s...not ever going to be a PSA for the Pound Me Too movement!

So, I am in the car with my 17 year old. She and I have been trying to figure out our own, personal, top 5 records of all time. I am playing Dr Feelgood, and I am saying how great this record is. She says, "I don't know, they all sound the same and they are rather mysogenist."

With the lyrics of, "Flat on her back, she goes down...with the backseat back she goes down...with all my friends, she goes down" playing in the background, I was like, "I am really not hearing it, honey."

I'm going to go along with this. Always said you are influenced by your teens and twenties, plus what your parents were listening to.

Hence also currently enjoying The Prodigy's latest work No Tourists at 52 years young and both my teenage boys listen to them too!!

Managed to watch it....... Very good indeed. But they must've been able to get a guy to look just a little bit like Vince? That ugly wee b*stard is a million miles away from Vince Neil. I bet Vince even said, "Who the f*ck is that guy?!"

I'd have to say "Turnunders and Overpasses" was the best of the trio up there, 9. I did like the one you label good stuff, (reminds me of early Pink Floyd, Us & Them-ish) but what the FK is the constant mid pitched noise all the way through? It ruins it.
