Mobile Phone Scam - Beware !!!

A place to chat about anything thats not football related. Most of the threads in here are completely pointless which is why people keep coming back and back. As the forum title suggests, feel free to make any post you want on any subject you wish. It also has Adult jokes (so be warned) which is the other reason people keep coming back.

Mobile Phone Scam - Beware !!!

Post by Tractor Girl 1980 » Tue Feb 24, 2004 5:00 pm

Be aware of a new mobile phone / Blackberry scam, where a missed call (0709 020 3840) will show on your mobile phone.

The last four numbers may vary, but the first four numbers will remain the same, 0709. Do not call the number back. If you call this number back, you will be charged around £50.00 per minute.

This scam is not illegal, but has been confirmed by the City of London
Police who are aware of the activity.

Yeah i think they exposed this scam in the Sun yesterday. Its well out-of-order. But it was quite funny bacuase they printed pictures and the personal mobile numbers of the blokes who are behind this scam, lol

It's not a scam, it's a hoax, believe me because I have a similar number to that and it's a business forwarding service number provided by YAC.com

A £50.00 per minute premium rate tariff does not exist – the highest premium rate tariff available is £1.50 per minute. Despite the hundreds of enquiries received by ICSTIS about this ‘scam’ (and most have heard about it second or third-hand), not one person who claims that it has actually happened to them has been able to produce a phone bill to support their story.

ICSTIS urges any individual or organisation that receives an e-mail about this scam to delete it immediately. Please do not forward it on to others.
