Based on the number of Premium Bond wins, where is the luckiest place to live in the UK?
Across the UK 23 million people own some £23 billion of Premium Bonds, which each enter a monthly draw to win anything from £50 to £1 million.
Now the Government department behind the Bonds, National Savings & Investments, has revealed which towns and cities in the UK won the most prizes last year.
Sunderland is officially the luckiest place to live in if you want your Premium Bond numbers to come up. The city's Bond holders scooped an average of £23,353 for every £1 million of Bonds last year.
Aberdeen came second, with £18,846 in prizes per £1 million of Bonds. Both cities' luck changed significantly for the better in the last year, with Sunderland rising from 60th place in 2003 and Aberdeen from 79th.
Unlucky for some
By contrast, Motherwell is the unluckiest town in the UK when it comes to Premium Bond prizes, with people winning just £238 of prizes per £1 million of Premium Bonds. To make matters worse, the town came fourth from bottom last year.
Off Scotland's coast, the residents of the Western Isles didn't fare much better than their inland counterparts, scooping just £285 per million.
