St Georges day (and just English patriotism in general) unfortunately seems to have all kinds of (mainly) unfounded racist connotations to it, it always seems to bring out the skinheads and lager louts etc. Whereas St Paddys day seems to just be a fun day and an excuse to drink GuinnessDeIpswich wrote:What I wanna know is, why is there hardly any fuss made over St. George's Day. Oh boy do I feel rough today!
Had a gig in Leicester Square last night, so I wasn't driving, had a post gig pint with a friend which of course led to a few more then on the way home we started on my mates bottle of Italian brandy ("Tacua" it was called, lovely stuff, went down way too easily!).
Don't really remember getting home, woke up this morning at 9.25am thinking "sh*t, I was s'posed to be in work 25 minutes ago!"...oh well!
So all in all I had a good St Patrick's day, thank goodness it's only once a year though!
Agree with Harrow though, why don't we make a bigger deal of St George's day? In Catalunya and Malta, who also has St George as their patron saint, they go absolutely mental, fireworks, drinks, partying the whole works!
Come on England...let's party!
