Who said that?

A place to chat about anything thats not football related. Most of the threads in here are completely pointless which is why people keep coming back and back. As the forum title suggests, feel free to make any post you want on any subject you wish. It also has Adult jokes (so be warned) which is the other reason people keep coming back.

Anyone on loan to an Australian club must have been a sh*te player! Cockney geezer, sh*te player, …… well known enough to have said something people remember... Damn....

Mark Noble??? maybe went to Australia early on?

Think he was well respected as a footballer at Spurs. Don’t think he was totally sh*te.

He came out with quite a few decent phrases in his time. No doubt still does because he’s not dead.

El Tel indeed. Well done.

My favourite El Tel quote:

"Everybody says Steve McManaman played on the left for me at Euro 96 but he NEVER played on the left. The one time he did play on the left was against Switzerland."

Nice!

Met El Tel recently when we stayed at his place in Panáguila in November, what a fantastic bloke he is and he just loves talking about football and is happy to engage for as long as you’re prepared to give him. A brilliant host and well worth a visit.

👌

Not stirring up England negativities, (I actually promise that)...... but did El Tel talk about the 96 Euros and the semi final shootout? Or indeed one of the best goals of all time ...... Gazza v Scotland?

To be honest Marko I’m never brilliant on detail and best as I recall we first talked about his playing career and me watching him play in particicular for Chelsea and Spurs. We then moved onto mananagement but mainly his time with QPR, the move to Barcelona and Spurs. We touched on England but to be honest his focus was very much the earlier years, the only specific England game he spoke about was the Euro 96 match v Holland which he clearly thought was one of the best performances of his managerial career. He’s quite well known here and most who know him suspect his memory isn’t as good as it used to be, hence his conversations often tend to relate to his less recent memories. 🤔

I just tried to upload a picture of me and Tel which my wife took together with a couple of lovely photographs of his beautiful boutique hotel where he planned to open as a hideaway football training camp, however he was never able to get the necessary planning consents.

I’d love to meet him. And I’d definitely work into the conversation:
“Terry, you do know that Uri Geller was in a blimp above the stadium and he moved the ball just prior to McAllister taking his spot kick?”

 the silence and confusion would be hilarious!

If its who said this.... Stuart Pearce about Scolari?

This quote is famous in my previous Leicestershire neck of the woods and starts .....

"Anybody who can do anything in Leicester other than knit a jumper has got to be a genius..(and ends)....If he’d been English or Swedish, he’d have walked the England job."

I do know the answer but won’t spoil it for others...
