Re: The Alternative Football Club Thread
Mighty Loons need to get back to L1. Can’t have the other two ‘Gus teams getting too far ahead. Arbroath could be in the SPL next season ……. And Montrose going to Falkirk & pumping them 3-0? Need to get out of that League and up playing derbies again.
Hedgers in the Highland league must be quite amusing though!

Re: The Alternative Football Club Thread
No i just happened to agree with you, folk on a Town forum must get bored reading about another club, although when someone goes to the trouble starting a new thread i do like to help keep it going, but that's life and I will leave all football talk to Town fans on a Town forum.

The Loons bottom a few weeks ago and facing expulsion from the League to now sitting in the final play off slot, what a,transformation under this manager, hopefully we can stay there and win promotion via the play offs

Re: The Alternative Football Club Thread
Oh dear Marko, Hibs losing to an Andorran team in a first leg! I have written that in tiny text so that maybe nobody else can see it! The biggest surprise however is that a team from Andorra qualifies for qualifying for a qualifying round of any European competition!

Re: The Alternative Football Club Thread
You seen the footage of the travelling fans? Feckin disgrace to the club. Yeah, GREAT that you're travelling to Andorra but don't act like tw@ts on the continent. AS with all clubs in the soccer --->> fans all brushed with the same brush. I'm more pi$$ed off with those travelling nutjobs than the result. The club will turn it around at Easter Road......, but the fans performance will live on. As said; yep, they travelled, but Hibs could do with emptying that type of "fan".

I watched that this morning, not the greatest role models for the club was it. The result is best ignored.

Re: The Alternative Football Club Thread
Didn't know Andorra had any teams or club sides. Just recognize them for invariably requisite opposition for the English in any bullshit Qualification Groups.
r.e. the Scots games, Forfar believe play St Mirren in League Cup action pretty soon, not quite a glamour tie for them but arguably going up against a more illustrious challenger. Airdrie face off with Bonnyrigg, Partick with Spartans : it's that type of early round competition.

Re: The Alternative Football Club Thread
Yes Saint , Forfar have had a great start to the season with Three straight wins and top their group having beaten Montrose (one league higher) and Arbroath (Two leagues higher).
St mirren are premier league so this will be very tough, I am buying a pass to watch the game, hopefully results elsewhere go our way and we qualify for the last sixteen. I'm backing the Loons to win League Two this season.

Re: The Alternative Football Club Thread
I like the games you picked out, Saint. Really is an entertaining round of the SLC if people accept that the quality is lower league Scottish soccer. Ive always loved it with the exception of Hibs playing these clubs…….. 9 man defence, equivalent of Ipswich v Morecambe. Soul destroying.
Forfar will no doubt take a decent wee support down to Paisley today. Big game in Bonnyrigg v Airdrie. Tight little town and that traffic light crossroads outside the ground, (which is a nightmare anyway) will be extra testing on the patience around 2pm/3pm today.
And loving seeing the Edinburgh Spartans in the league. Very interested in that.
Might have to be on the Spartans side v those Loons this coming season Mike
But ‘mon the loons for today

Just on the traffic news…… large accident on the Queensway in Dundee……. Is this all these Forfarites causing carnage on the way to Paisley?!

Re: The Alternative Football Club Thread
Buddies v Loons one of the 8 games that reporters are at for Sportsound ……. They’re saying buddies went out at this group stage last season so they’ll be focussed today. Ray McKinnon will need to set up very well for the win in Paisley today.

Well Forfar just rolled over in that first half, it was abject dross. Turned it off at HT.

Re: The Alternative Football Club Thread
What at Blackpool. That's not so bad a score, they were EPL status not so long back.
Guess it adds certain credence why Scots teams shouldn't be allowed or invited to join in with English Leagues : although Celtic would most likely have stomped over them like sand-flies.

Re: The Alternative Football Club Thread
Not many trying to be invited. We are a separate country and compete here in Scotland. We couldn’t give two fucks about playing in England. Like asking Ipswich if they want to go compete in Scotland. They’d be upper SPL no problem, maybe even win the league and cups……. But fans are like, “Err, no thanks.”arana peligrosa wrote: ↑Sun Jul 30, 2023 6:10 pmWhat at Blackpool. Likewise, Hibs v Charlton? No thanks.
We’ll stick to the boggy nights in Perth.
Hibs tend to draw v English opposition.
When Huddersfield were EPL, was 0-0 @ Easter Road. No idea why the Blackpool games started being “a thing”, but defeated them twice and drawn most of the others over the past 12 years.
Drew with Blackburn, defeated Boro, Wigan, Bolton…….. defeated by Carlisle () Preston NE,
Mixed bag over the years. Hibs would be League One in England.
Celtic SHOULD defeat all these teams and arguably be an EPL club, (1-1 with Wolves yesterday) but reckon they’d be a yo-yo WBA type.

Fairly sure Liam will turn things around after the last 180mins of football.AzzurroMark wrote: ↑Sun Jul 30, 2023 2:15 pmHave known seasons where teams have had a terrible run of results in friendlies, then had a cracking league season (& vice versa). Will be keeping fingers crossed for you Marko!
Should thump the Andorrans 4-0 minimum at ER on Thursday but no bets placed.

I don't really follow the European cup scene that much, but where does that leave you now? Any more qualifiers or is that you will be in the next round proper?

Re: The Alternative Football Club Thread
Yes, the oppositions goal was a proper fly in the ointment. They really are a pub team. Tending to believe that the huffing & puffing by Hibs in the first half in Andorra was altitude related.
FC Luzern next round, then it’ll be the conference group stage.
Hibs will find a way…….. to NOT be involved!
