Re: Wes Burns
This is both excellent for Burns but indirectly good for the club, an example to others who might be considering coming to Town - come here, do well, be part of something successful and build on your own career etc.

Good thing Rossi isn't the Wales manager! Congrats to WB, it's always a pleasure to see our players at the international level especially being in League 1.

Yes innit!
It’ll put a few £’s on his value now too.

Re: Wes Burns
Wales got a real chance of having a first World Cup feature since 1958, hope they can do it but have to get past a two game play-off or possble it's just one in Ukraine or Scotland. Before then it's some exhibition games with Netherlands and Belgium. It's feasible Burns could participate in all involved.
not sure how many full or part-time internationals we got at the club, I focus on domestic success here rather than what they hope to achieve for respective nations. Unfortunately club name players outside the top two divisions don't seem to get selected for international duty all too often.

Dang - looks like we could miss burns for a month now wales have made the World Cup.
Assuming they don’t make it out of the group how many weeks would it likely be?
Still I’m pleased for him, will be great for him to go have that experience and work alongside those players.
He must be buzzing with how things have gone for himself since he signed and I can only see that confidence as a good thing for us.

No guarantee he'll even be in the squad as yet though.

Re: Wes Burns
Didn't even play yesterday, not even on the bench. Quote "biggest score in Wales soccer history" and Burns wasn't even part of it.
As stated there's every chance he won't make the squad for final World Cup selection although that's not say he doesn't deserve to be part of something.
Not to get too far ahead but suppose Burns gets to participate, Wales got a good chance in between the English, US and Iran of making it out the group stages, guess he'll be involved over there longer than some would like it. If he gets to be part of it.
Bottom line here, congrats to the Welsh in getting the result they needed. Rode their luck, Hennessey played a pivotal part and the opposition made a real fight of it. Too bad a game of such magnitude had to be decided through an own-goal. Wales deserve to be back after omission since the 1950's, believe they got the heart and desire to make something of an impact when time arises.

Re: Wes Burns
Wouldn't agree with this Hallam. If he makes the squad that would mean he must be playing well, sure we would lose him for that period but would mean hopefully he'll be on top form for rest of the season. Another thought, Wales could be knocked out in group stages, who knows

Re: Wes Burns
I get what you are saying - but I think that even playing at the top of his game would not mean him getting a regular place in the Wales squad let alone the team.Steve and Jo wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 4:02 pmWouldn't agree with this Hallam. Re: Wes Burns
Maybe so rossi, but he will have to be playing at his best to be even considered, surely that has to be good for Ipswich. It's all pie in the sky right now. Re: Wes Burns
I’m just wondering now with Harness arrival if Someone is in for Burns ? They both play right wing .

Re: Wes Burns
Interesting thought, Liz, and I know which one I would choose if it came to one position, but Harness can play a number of positions so I think KM will want to keep Burns as well.hallamblue wrote: ↑Sat Jul 16, 2022 9:43 amI’m just wondering now with Harness arrival if Someone is in for Burns ? Re: Wes Burns
Listen to his interview - he sees himself central as a jibber 10 and only plays wide if he has to. He pretty much said he’ll cover burns if he has to but wants to smash big numbers from a central position.

Re: Wes Burns
He played the number 10 role against us im sure of it, one thing is certain and that is Burns will be the first name on the team sheet when available, Harness can play several positions, a very astute signing.

Re: Wes Burns
It would appear Town are still talking with the Celina camp about his return to Portman Road. Not convinced this would be money well spent or maybe we could get more from him with better players around him.
