Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
For me its pointless having Harper, Hughes and El Mizouni in the 22 man squad as never gonna play other than maybe the Carabao Cup rubbish.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
quite agree with you on this Mike. The Club / squad has moved on now hasnt it. I think they will be moved out on loan at some point tbh .
One thing we can be sure of is the Club is now run professionally and we wont be in a situation of having a bloated playing staff at the club . Not that long ago when Lambert joined I think we had something like 50 players in employment here, and he didnt offload , he actually brought more players in !!!

I think he's a good player tbh . He , as you say, just didnt "fit" here. I can see him scoring a load of goals for them, which is why I was saying we might regret giving him for free to a promotion rival!

Yep and 48 of those 50 were mostly sh*te lol. I agree that the club is being run so much more professionally now, its taken 25 years but starting to happen.hallamblue wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 9:18 amquite agree with you on this Mike. He is a good player based on his time at Wimbledon, for whatever reason or reasons he just wasn't up to it here, I actually like Pigott as a footballer but glad he's moved on, let's not forget he's only on loan, still our player so in a years time we could well reap the benefit, its a win win for Town really.hallamblue wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 9:20 amI think he's a good player tbh . Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
So it might be Mike, I’d just find it hard to swallow if he scores 20 goals for Pompey and our leading scorer is a midfielder with 12 or 13 goals to his name.Bluemike wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 9:34 amHe is a good player based on his time at Wimbledon, for whatever reason or reasons he just wasn't up to it here, I actually like Pigott as a footballer but glad he's moved on, let's not forget he's only on loan, still our player so in a years time we could well reap the benefit, its a win win for Town really.hallamblue wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 9:20 amI think he's a good player tbh . Yep but that remains to be seen 8f he's capable of it again Andy, I have my doubts. The only person we can blame for it is Pigott himself, he had numerous chances and didn't deliver, I certainly wouldn't have wanted us to change everything just to suit him.

Personally I don't want him at Ipswich if he didn't Mind playing in front of 2500 .Well then money is his god .he probably would play In front of tea lady and dog if Money was right .he seems to be disinterested at times .he believes flash of brilliance is enough for fans instead of working his butt off..move on ..our squad is good enough

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
But why would you want him here now?
He’s touting himself around clubs left right and centre after “ failing to agree terms with Ipswich “.
He was in the brink of signing for Stoke barring a work permit issue he’d be there now. Now he’s hightailed it to this Turkish club to sign on the dotted line . Town not even a fleeting memory for him, it seems. Now the Turkish deal has fallen through …. He’ll “consider us” will he? Sorry, but my response would Foxtrot Oscar…

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
Definitely with Balls on this one in the sense that I certainly "WANTED" him back at Ipswich simply because...... (and I think maybe some of you are overlooking this)......, he may be useful in this new and trendy Ipswich we are all going to see 22/23 (Thats on you KMcK). How many match reports from here and from the press last season whereby it was wall to wall headless chickens Cook era, and maybe 30-40% of KMcK's games wasn't any better. Celina, like your Riordans & Cummings & Boyle operate when the team is firing. YES......, WE KNOW..... its not all about one player......, but when the player CLEARLY has talent, people need to up their f**king game and pull their finger out their arse.hallamblue wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 3:09 pmBut why would you want him here now?

BUT........, huge but........., the Stoke, Preston, 2 headless chicken Turkey clubs etc etc etc say to me........, its over now. You'll NOT be welcomed at PR by the majority and no one wants that.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
Got to hope that he does thrive at Pompey because he's clearly had the "Daryl Murphy effect" at Wimbledon. Murphy was essentially a dire striker. 110 games for Sunderland, 14 goals......, Murphy only really flourished at Ipswich for whatever reason. Pigott is the same. His stats are poor. Only Wimbledon is sort of worthy for comment.hallamblue wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 9:20 amI think he's a good player tbh . He , as you say, just didnt "fit" here. 22 games and 2 goals for Ipswich suggests that it may not happen. He did have chances in this KMcK era when things were picking up, seem to remember a couple games where he fluffed many chances.
Hopefully he's world class at the gorgeous Fratton Park and Ipswich can earn some cash from him.

It's never been about the talent with Celina Marko, its about the work ethic, defensive duties and consistency, sadly lacking in all of them.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
Daryl Murphy essentially had one good season for us , when he was scoring like a striker should be scoring. He got his swan song move to Sunderland on the back of that one good season too. In all his career he rarely hit double figures which, as I’ve said, for a striker, isn’t very good. I’ve looked at Piggott scoring history too. He seems to be very hit and miss. A good season followed by a poor one, followed by a good one. Seems we got him in his lull season lol ! But his touch and ability to bring others into the game is supposedly very good. We just never utilised it. It is was it is , and I doubt he’ll play for us again despite whatever noises come out of the club….marko69 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 3:43 pmGot to hope that he does thrive at Pompey because he's clearly had the "Daryl Murphy effect" at Wimbledon. Murphy had a similar thing to Sears though, when he first came here he was played wide much of the time.

Bakinson got to Shef weds, I’m ok with that as I think ball will be an upgrade and more suited to us.

Agree.
I still wouldn’t be surprised if Celina rucked up on deadline day - if we’d managed to clear some players out and it was a fairly cheap cost loan or such.

I hope another striker is arriving any day soon or we will be short of firepower, Three strikers just isn't sufficient.

Taken from another site just hope he is right.
It could be the day for Hirst. The journo who called the Pigott/Harness deal believes Hirst is a real possibility for us now.

Would be the icing on the cake and considering Championship clubs are snuffing around quite a coup.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
I read today that KM will not have a first choice team but wants to have 2 players for every position so that he can use rotation for whatver reason. Given that his preference is to play just one up front, we already have more than the quota he wants (albeit that they are lightweight as Mike suggests), so I'm far from convinced we can expect to see another striker coming at all.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
I think that we will be signing Hirst and the Leeds LB …. Plus one other , although I’m not sure what position … McKenna has stated in a recent interview that 3-4 more were targeted . Which must surely mean some are on there way out to make the space ?

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
I’m a big fan of KM and I’ve supported his decisions while a few others have questioned his actions. I read the article on KM explaining about there’s no magic recipe and players will be rotated accordingly. Not sure I agree with that philosophy for a league one squad. I believe you always start your strongest players and sub when adjustments are needed. Let’s not over think this KM, we’re not ManU with an abundance of talent.
