Re: Points haul in Sept?
I'd agree with the first three, but I cannot for the life of me see us getting anything from the trip to Hillsborough, and seeing as the Plymouth game is on Sky then no more than one point for that one.hallamblue wrote: ↑Mon Aug 29, 2022 9:07 amAccrington Stanley (a) - 3points

Re: Points haul in Sept?
Given 9 points in September would equate to promotion level performance I’ll take that in anyway it comes even if it includes a surprise and a disappointment.
What would surprise me is if we end the month still undefeated.
9 points for me.

Re: Points haul in Sept?
I think we can beat Cambridge.
The Wednesday and Plymouth games are proper tests and the results will really show where we are and whether we can realistically hope for a top-two slot.

We'll maybe win the first three, one point at Hillsborough and defeat in the South-West. For me, that alone represents a very good run of results. You're not going to win every one, got to be realistic with chances ahead.

True, I often feel like that until I get to the game. Then the adrenaline kicks in and I feel sure we will win.
If we did only get 7 points from those 5 games, we would still have 21 points from 11 which must be promotion form or very close to it. Hopefully I’m miles out and we will get 12 points or more.

Might have to amend my predicted points haul now, in light of our injuries from last nights game. So bloody annoying to pick up all these injuries from a “nothing” game.

What’s the difference between this thread and the prediction league thread that people post on every week, then?mendipblue wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 3:50 pmTotally agree, hate this type of thread, hate tempting fate.marko69 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 29, 2022 2:35 pmYou people never learn Jaysus feckin H

One is a competition and you’ve really got to predict……. Otherwise……,hallamblue wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 7:23 amWhat’s the difference between this thread and the prediction league thread that people post on every week, then?
Seriously though, was just a bit fun remembering last seasons “points haul” thread and it going south rapidly with a sacking soon after.

It’s always good to compare expectations and as we all know from the Prediction League, we’ll rarely get it right, in fact we’ll most likely get it completely wrong.

I’m surprised you expect us to drop points at home to Cambridge Liz ?hallamblue wrote: ↑Mon Aug 29, 2022 9:07 amAccrington Stanley (a) - 3points

I know it’s early days but to date they’ve only picked up 1 point on their travels losing the other two. What makes you think they’ll have enough to trouble us or are you worrying about them parking the bus again like they did last season and catching us on the break.

Cambridge appear to pick up some really good points in this division and often against the “ better” teams. But, As with every game for us , I think it’ll be down to us scoring first, the opponents then have to come out, which we deal with much better.. Otherwise it’s a park the bus scenario isn’t it.

Re: Points haul in Sept?
So it’s 7 points so far + whatever we pick up tonight.
Accrington Stanley (a) - Win 2-0 - 3points
Cambridge Utd (h) - Play Tonight
Bristol Rovers (h) - Win 2-0 - 3points
Sheffield Wednesday (a) - 2-2 Draw - 1point
Plymouth (a) - Lost 2-1. - 0 Points.
My prediction was 9 points which can’t happen. Hopefully anyone who went for 10 points will be correct

Re: Points haul in Sept?
With the best goal difference in the division and +7 on GD over Plymouth, I don’t think it will take too long to regain the number one spot. The amount of clean sheets we’ve already accumulated is just amazing! Interestingly, our defensive players are still regularly criticized by certain fans. I know it takes the whole team to defend, but maybe we should give the guys a break for the odd c*ck-up?? Finally we have a super squad, and we’re playing some of the best football in years! COYB!!

Re: Points haul in Sept & October
With September done and October off to a great start let’s hope the momentum continues. This months League games look easier on paper but as we all know the lower ranking the opposition are the less likely they are to want to let us play.
October League Fixtures;
1st - Portsmouth (h) - W 3-2
4th - Cambridge (h) - W 3-0
8th - Morecambe (a) W 3-0
15th - Lincoln City (h) W 2-0
21st - Derby County (h) W 2-0
25th - Port Vale (a) W 1-0
29th - Charlton (a) D 1-1
Anyone fancy predicting a points haul for the month ?
I think we could win them all apart from Charlton where I think they will hold us to a draw 1-1. That would give us 19 points.
