I’m not even excited about beating Senegal. GS will play defensive against France and we will lose. If we do win, we’ll go out in the semis. Hey if we do win the WC, I’ll be the first to raise my hand. I’ll even post a pic of my bare bottom! We’ve choked so many times, it’s almost written in stone. Three Lions fail to win a major tournament since 1966, the year I was born!

Re: World Cup 2022?!
Even a dumb dumb can see that GS got his tactics absolutely spot on right against Senegal and there’s no reason why he can’t do it again against France. Of course the challenge next Saturday will be different and we’ll need to stop Mbappe from winning the game on his own but there’s no reason why that can’t be masterminded. For those of us who follow the National team and are interested in the World Cup, we all know that any progress beyond the QF’s would exceed most peoples expectations.number 9 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 2:25 amI’m not even excited about beating Senegal. My bet is they’re as worried about us as we are them which is why the match winning odds of France 7/5 and England 6/4 are so close.
This could definitely go either way albeit France are the edgy favourites.

Re: World Cup 2022?!
The tactics may have been right, but it would have been 1-0 Senegal early if it wasn't for Pickford's great save. Also Mane is injured...I'm not sure the result would have been the same if he played. Sure England have had a great record under GS, but we still haven't won anything. The Euro final was a perfect opportunity to get rid of the losing hoodoo, especially with Shaw's goal after 2 minutes! GS should have set the team up to attack-attack-attack...but no, he had the players slow the game down and p*ss about with possession when the Italians were vulnerable.Charnwood wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 1:50 pmEven a dumb dumb can see that GS got his tactics absolutely spot on right against Senegal and there’s no reason why he can’t do it again against France. I've followed the England national team my entire life, and I hope I'm wrong. I'd love for us to lift the trophy. We shouldn't be happy though with only progressing beyond the QF's...we should expect to win.

Why should we expect to win ? ….
To win we need to be the best team in the world and tbh No9 we’re not.
As for Pickfords save that kept us level v Senegal, if it wasn’t for Hugo Lloris’s save from Poland's Piotr Zielinski from the centre of the penalty area Poland too could have easily taken a first half lead.
I’m far from confident about our chances of making it through to the Semis and if we do it will most likely be beyond 90 mins and if we do there’s no reason on earth why we shouldn’t expect to do well against either Spain in transition or Morocco.
What I don’t understand is your negativity, eg “we will lose against France, if we don’t we’ll go out in the Semi’s”. If you feel that sure about it why even bother to follow it.

Spain got what they deserved....nothing! Their stats reminded me of Ipswich in ways;hallamblue wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 6:47 pmGutsy determined performance by Morocco …. Well played …. That’s Spain out lol
77% possession, 9 shots but only 1 on target, 9 corners to nil. If Spain can't do it then what hope a L1 side!
Spain were guilty of trying to pass around their opponents and the only time I saw someone take defenders on was when Williams came on. Far too pedestrian.

Re: World Cup 2022?!
Neither team looked like scoring in open play this afternoon and the longer it went on goalless the more likely Morocco would win.
Spain’s World Cup penalty shoot out record is shocking beyond belief and even the pen specialist they brought on in the 28th minute of Extra Time took the first and missed.
The last and only time Spain have won a WC pen shoot out was 20 years ago over Ireland in the Round of 16 in 2002, but they followed that up with a shootout loss to South Korea in the next round. Since then they’ve lost the rest including a loss to hosts Russia in the last tournament. After today their record is Win 1-4 Lost (20%).

First big test coming up marko …. Reckon it’ll be the penalty lottery myself . Don’t think our defence is as good as our attack .marko69 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 7:02 pmGet past France, Hallam, then it’ll be England in the Final.hallamblue wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 6:47 pmGutsy determined performance by Morocco …. I noticed the commentator said “ possession stats means nothing” …. It immediately made me think of us ( Town ) lol …. Fingers crossed we bury a very out of form Posh on Saturday .AzzurroMark wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 7:02 pmSpain got what they deserved....nothing! Re: World Cup 2022?!
One too may upsets / shock results for some. Was looking forward to a grand all-Iberian clash in the next round and Morocco throw a fuckin' curve ball. Feel disappointment, resentment maybe. Above all else feels like a missed opportunity. 10 years ago or had they held this "tournament" on another continent or plausible nation, the Spanish would have won this event. Nada mas.
Great start and big win but the Japan game should have provided a warning. Thought before time the team could go a long way this year but to miss out this early in competition, say again can only sense disappointment.
Portugal did very well, hope they can go a long way. Ronaldo deserves to be a World Champion irrespective of how people perceive him or past grudges and resentment etc. Morocco may deserve to win today, they may not, bottom line being for them, any progress ends next round.
