Morsy should just have had one of them that’s for sure.

Anyone know the "Morecambe win" poll tipster? Maybe post some predictions for the weekend.

Weird substitutions but I understand the reasons why, and it gives him a chance to freshen up the attack and see how different players compare against the same opposition.

Wow, Pigott scores for Pompey. His first in 148 years.

Anyone else a little disappointed with Hirst so far? know its early days but was expecting something special, now it shows how hard Freddie works.

Tells you something when you feel a little disappointed with 4 - 0 win lol.
Good win guys now build on that and get a run going.

Hirst is showing pretty much what I expected, he’s nowhere near as good as Broadhead and tbh I prefer Ladapo for his work rate but it’s still early days.

Dam, I didn’t realise Bolton were playing tonight with a 1-0 win and 1-2 to Derby.

Superb 1st half. Terribly inept 2nd half especially after subs.None of the subs looked like booking a start. Seem incapable still of playing well for full match. Some of that is due to mass substitutions.

Could this be the start of a long awaited run of wins. One game at a time but it has to start somewhere. COYB’s

Totally agree. Hirst not good enough, Harness first touch awful. Jackson wasteful. Edwards and Humphries were OK. Good 3pts clean sheet should of gone for more goals.patthegimp wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 10:49 pmSuperb 1st half. First half was superb football and amazingly a clean sheet, incredible what you can do when you ditch the crap defenders and play the right attack. I thought first half Freddie was superb. Clarke and Briadhead really good signings, Hirst again looks awful.
I think the game was done at HT as a spectacle and the substitutions just finished any chance of a repeat of the first half but all in all a much improved performance, bordering on a 4-4-2 at times which really suited us.

Simply outstanding display by Town first half. Visitors couldn’t complain if it had bordered on double figures at half time we simply blew them away!
That’s THE best performance by Ladapo I’ve seen since he joined us . Maybe that’s the most effective forward line, I don’t know. Morcambe gave us literally ACHERS of space , and we moved the ball from defence to attack so quickly ( I’ve been asking for this all season!) that they couldn’t contain us.
Joy o joy, a proper defence!! Clarke is an absolute monster. Strong , quick, powerful …. Almost like The Beat at times. Broadhead brings an extra dimension to the attack which takes some of the defensive focus off Ladapo. Make no mistake the performance level of the team has gone up several notches tonight. We MUST reproduce through Feb to put pressure on Sheffield and Plymouth and to hold off Derby and Bolton. But I feel so much more positive after watching that display tonight . Let’s see if we can reproduce against the better sides - the ones that come to park the bus. That’ll be the acid test .

Re: League 1 - Ipswich Town vs Morecambe FC Preview & Matchday Thread
To Morecambe’s credit they didn’t park the bus tonight but may well have done so after 30 mins had they kept it goal less and sniffed a point. We definitely need more early goals. I think second half it was more important for them to keep a respectable score and they managed that ok with a little bit of help from us with our changes but by then the game was won.
I’m glad I’m not the only one unimpressed with Hirst, my Leicester mates said I wouldn’t be impressed but dropping down to League One I thought I needed to give him a chance.

Re: League 1 - Ipswich Town vs Morecambe FC Preview & Matchday Thread
All I will say regarding Hirst is he’s hardly played any football this season. Think he’s only had 2 starts and a few dub appearances at Blackburn. So I’ll give him benefit of the doubt for Feb as ring rusty. But he’s certainly not coming across as committed to Town, and I would be unhappy if we only saw him as a loan player for second half of season. Broadhead and Ladapo are twice the players he is on current showing.
