Bobby Madden Ref last Saturday at Oxford.
Referee Bobby Madden has been demoted to League 2 as a 4th Official for 2 games for the fabricated rule he explained to both Managers at the recent Oxford - Ipswich game! And his poor handling of other league 1 games. EFL referees appointment board.

I still say the EFL should order a replay of that game .

Re: Bobby Madden Ref last Saturday at Oxford.
Personally both managers should have insisted that the game was called off at the time the ref said the result would have to stand. If as was said "there were mistakes out there" that is the only reason needed. Then the clubs can explore the laws of the game, and challenge for a replay.hallamblue wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 9:32 amI still say the EFL should order a replay of that game .
What about the "assistant refs" and the fourth official? Surely these guys should know the laws of the game? Surely if, as a linesman, you cannot see clearly enough to say make a correct offside decision, you should be in the refs ear saying so!
Karl Robinson may not have said as much as Keiran after the game, however it would be very different had we scored the winner!
In truth, yes we have to let this game go, and while many will (rightly or wrongly) blame Keiran's juggling of the team selections, let's not forget that, but for poor decisions by match officials we would DEFINITELY be in the same points vicinity of the top 2. Ultimately that could be what costs us promotion.

agree that both mangers ought to have insisted on the game being abandoned.AzzurroMark wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 10:08 amPersonally both managers should have insisted that the game was called off at the time the ref said the result would have to stand. It was a terrible decision by the officials - BUT - managers should also know the laws of the game, and the fact is that both of them appeared not to, so I don't think 100% of the blame should go to the officials

Re: Bobby Madden Ref last Saturday at Oxford.
I don't disagree Rossi, but there are huge incentives for managers to want to keep playing, so for them to be questioning the conditions, that really should send up some big red flags to the ref, the ref at that point should step in and be the voice of reason.
Particularly for Town, 3 hours travel there, 3 hours travel back, all the preparation, all the training, 75 minutes of play in their players legs, a more congested week of fixtures when the game is to be replayed, all the logistics that surrounds a League 1 match... the list goes on and on, yet the manager is questioning abandonment, I'm not surprised the ref has been dumped.

Not surprised but as I said on another thread still no excuse for our performance. As for the game being replayed I don’t think any of us would have been calling for that if we had gone on and won the game. Move on and make sure we get the win at Cambridge.

And regardless of Bobby’s decision, whether he was right or wrong……… bit of kick in the nuts for L2.

Re: Bobby Madden Ref last Saturday at Oxford.
But it’s still interesting to know that the EFL do review their employees c*ck ups and take important decisions rather than brush it under the carpet as if it hadn’t happened. Even better it brings the rules to the attention of a lot of people who should already know them.marko69 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 1:13 pmYes, the thread doesn’t exist if the result was favourable.. Quite alarming really. Fairly sure he’s ref’d a few SCF’s. Was always ok @ ER. Maybe he’s a Pape!

Re: Bobby Madden Ref last Saturday at Oxford.
i'd like to have seen Clive Thomas take charge of that game, would have been comedy gold and then some.
this Robert Madden character, not really familiar with the name. Can't really speak out on any previous errors or ineptitude but there's other factors you got to include such as people attest to it were a poor performance by ourselves on the day irrespective of weather condition, not ony that and for the final time, if we HAD won or got the victory, would anyone even raise issue with the game in question / standard of officiating etc.

It’s only for 2 games Marko not the rest of the season.
I think the hairstyle is the closest he’ll ever be to Pierluigi Collina

Thats a ref who didn’t have players surrounding him. One stare and the players bricked their y’fronts.

Re: Bobby Madden Ref last Saturday at Oxford.
The ranks have closed around the match officials as usual I see!
"PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Board) carried out that investigation and concluded that neither Madden nor any of the match officiating team said what has been claimed". So this is saying there's no foundation behind what KM said afterwards.

Re: Bobby Madden Ref last Saturday at Oxford.
Strange that this is an issue. If both KMcK & Robinson spoke to the ref on 74mins, @ 1-1, and if BOTH claim Madden explained an obscure ruling, …… then whats to debate?
The only way it becomes a debate is if the ref spoke to them separately. Because someone is then lying.
Did the three of them discuss it together? (Madden, KMcK & KR)
