So April fixtures now look like this …

1Apr. 15.00 Derby County (5th) A
7 Apr 15:00 Wycombe Wanderers (7th) H
10 Apr 15:00 Cheltenham Town ((17th) A
15 Apr 15:00 Charlton Athletic( (12th) H
18 Apr 19:45 Port Vale (15th) H
22 Apr 15:00 Peterborough United (8th) A
25 Apr 15.00. Barnsley. (4th) A
29 Apr 15:00 Exeter City(11th) H

7 May 12:00 Fleetwood Town. )16th) A

So, in April we have 8 games in 4 weeks, at the back end of a long season.

If we manage to nick 2nd spot after that , we’ll have earned promotion in my book. Can we do it ? And if we fail , have we got the mental strength to deal with the disappointment and then win the play off lottery?

How many games did we play in 80/81, hell can't quite put a figure on it. What's remaining this time seems small by comparison. Took a view of the remaining fixture liist provided and first thought was "promotion on a plate". Only Barnsley & Derby seem to pose a credible threat of the teams listed and even they can be taken care of. So many winnable games in the above, only complacency will kill it for us. Providing of course Plymouth drop points in games also.

Screw the play-offs, in all probability we won't even need them. Be kind of fun watching Bolton, Derby etc tread a fine line between success and abject failure when the time arises.

I think it was 69 games , using something daft like 14 players .

When I was talking to John Wark the other week he was saying exactly this, they lost the league as they just had too many games - vs say villa who played twenty less or something.

Hopefully the big squad comes into its own during April, I guess all teams have this many games - some perhaps more? (Barnsley?).

Plymouth also have 8 games to play in April including their EFL Trophy Final but their advantage is finishing the month with 3 consecutive home games over 8 days which means no travelling and plenty of rest.

Many of us think Sheffield Wednesday have one of the automatic places in the bag but they don’t have the most straightforward run in with 7 of their 11 remaining games away from Hillsborough and a number of them against sides potentially with important points to play for not least Derby County on the final day who could be scraping for a play off place.

Tuesday 21st March. v Barnsley (4th) A

Sunday 26th March v Forest Green (24th) A

Wednesday 29th March v Cheltenham Town. (17th). A

Saturday 1st April v. Lincoln City (13th) H

Friday 7th April v. Oxford Utd. (19th) A

Monday 10th April. v Accrington Stanley. (20th) H

Saturday 15th April. Burton Albion (18th) A

Tuesday 18th April v. Bristol Rovers (14th) A

Saturday 22nd April v. Exeter City (11th) H

Saturday 29th April. v. Shrewsbury Town (9th) A

Sunday 7th May v Derby County (5th) H
