There's no doubt we'd want him but I don't think Leicester will let him go. And does he really really want to stay? He likes playing for us certainly but he hasn't rejuvenated his career in the way say Chaplin or Walton have. Everyone already knew he could score and be very effective at league 1 level.

Anyway I hope I'm wrong and he does stay but if he does end up going, think Ashton and McKenna might surprise us with the quality of who they get instead.

If this Club recruits as it did for League One, that would suggest we will be targeting PL players to drop down to the Championship. So maybe we fans need to look at young players in the PL who we could be looking to tempt to PR.

I was wondering if we might also be looking abroad. I’m Not sure it always works when bringing in foreign players to the English game though as I think there is a high failure rate for this group trying to adapt to the English game for a multitude of reasons.

Liz I think if continue to play like we have been over the run in, with some real quality passing games, then if Keiran decides say a couple of Spanish players to come in they would settle down very quickly, Pablo Counago type comes to mind

I think Spanish players are generally over-valued, although there is plenty of talent. Surely there's a few bargains to be found in the German Bundesliga as far as big, hairy CBs are concerned? Also, I think hallam's right in asserting MA/KM will be looking for Prem players who don't mind dropping down to get first team action.

If Leicester go down - which looks increasingly likely - will they really let us have Hirst? A) when they might need him B) when they won't want a rival with him

I would imagine Ashton and McKenna have a contingency, but it's a shame because he really fits the system

It could also work in the sense if they stay in the Prem his wages may stay high (think its 20k PW) but if they go down I think he might have a clause which reduces it to say £12k or so). I imagine we will shop in the 10-15k wage bracket - might stretch to 20k for some but I doubt all ne signings would be offer that sort of money, it can harm the existing squad if you do that, unless the new players are clearly a level above.

I think its 50/50 if we get him, but have no doubt there will be other targets. I think we are all just guessing, as we don't know if the owners will take a sustainable and sensible approach, or 'go hard' and hope to make it up ASAP before they fall foul of the financial rules. (I think its done over a 3 year period, so you could spend like crazy (aka as wolves did) and get to the prem, then not have to worry about it.
If you don't make it though you could be funked!

Come on Mike Pablo was better than that, but our style of play endures an opening for maybe some foreign Imports we would definitely have to strengthen in certain places to cover for injuries and banned players.
I like what Mogga has done for the Mackems and Robins for Coventry good solid squads, we have the nucleus it just needs topping up, I can see at least 5 players moving on shortly so the gaps need to be filled.

My thoughts exactly, but didn’t want to offend our friends up north. It’s really sad that Scottish Prem players can’t even hack it in the Championship. Many gripe about the EPL & a few teams dominating due to rich owners…but up there there’s only two teams who’ll win…year after year after year. William Wallace should have painted his face blue & green lol!

Side note but I think no out of contract uk based players can officially be approached for contracts before 30th may. Naturally I’m sure things are lined up and ready to sign before that though.
