Fabio Wardley v Frazer Clarke

A place to chat about anything thats not football related. Most of the threads in here are completely pointless which is why people keep coming back and back. As the forum title suggests, feel free to make any post you want on any subject you wish. It also has Adult jokes (so be warned) which is the other reason people keep coming back.

Fabio Wardley v Frazer Clarke

Post by Charnwood » Sun Mar 31, 2024 9:57 pm

Is anyone else watching the fight tonight for the British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles. I can’t ever recall an Ipswich boxer fighting at this level before.

Love Fabio Wardley’s Blue & White short with the ITFC logo. Come on Ipswich.

After 2 rounds I make this even one round each.

Clarke looks the more composed but our guy looks dangerous and unpredictable. Our guy needs to protect his head more or he’s gonna get cut.

Not watched a fight for years but this is entertaining stuff. No way can they keep this up for 12 rounds.

Mark Ashton and a few others are there from ITFC but Wardley banned the players cos he wanted them in bed early in preparation for tomorrow’s game. I bet McKenna had a say in that too.

Round 5 and Wardley has his man on the canvas for only the second time in his professional career.

Neither of these guys have ever lost before so something has to give.

Our guy has had 17 professional fights winning all 17, 26 of them by way of a knock outs.

After 6 Rounds it’s still all square, our guy looks marginally on top but this could go either way.

Clarke deducted 1 point for a low punch, not his first. This could prove costly if it stays this tight.

Surely something has to give soon.

Our guy does waste a lot of energy throwing shots whereas Clarke wastes far less energy.

Round 9, new territory for our guy who’s never been this far before. I fear he may lose this unless he can find another big punch ko

Our guy certainly won’t be winning any beauty contests for a few days after this fight. He looks pretty badly cut and possibly a broken nose.

After round 9 it’s still all level.

Just hope our guy can stay in it and find a big punch.

Round 11, still nothing in it but our guy needs to protect his face.

He’ll see f*ck all at Portman Road tomorrow

This is a hard fight.

What a fantastic fight, that was one of the best I’ve ever seen. Big finish from Clarke, absolutely breathtaking

Now a wait for the decision, this is anybody’s win

I’m hooked now on watching this guy every fight he has

The winner is ……. 114 -113 to Wardley, 115 -112 to Clarke, 113 -113 each

A Draw ….

Disappointing no result but neither man deserved to lose. I assume our guy retains both titles but I doubt we’d see him at Portman Road tomorrow after that monumental effort.

I can’t imagine either boxer wanting to face the other again but I’m sure it will happen and it’s not one to miss when it does.

What an incredible fight and probably the right result although Clarke was saved by the bell when knocked down, Wardley had him then and if there was time left in the round it would have been over.

Clarke should really have had another point deducted for deliberately spitting his gumshield out too when he was reeling again, a canny bit of gamesmanship.

That said a great fight and so courageous from both men, cannot wait for the rematch which could possibly be at Portman Road.

Best fight I’ve watched in ages. Both fighters gave their all and it would have been hard on either to have lost the fight. Thought technically Clarke was the better fighter but Fabio certainly carried the heavier power. A fight which would have taken a helluva a lot out of both fighters and I’m not sure either will want to go straight back in for a re-match although hopefully it will take place at sometime in the future.

If Fabio has any ambition to go on to another level he needs to learn how to conserve energy and not waste it on throwing countless punches that don’t land anywhere. His gung ho approach is fine when he’s knocking guys out in the first six rounds but when you taken the full distance you can’t afford to be knackered.
