I’m wondering how the Club will manage the vast discrepancy in wages between the current first team and those higher quality players in coming.

You'd think that maybe those staying are probably in the 20's range now due to promotion increase clauses etc, and those coming in might be on alot more, 60+ but only if they are proven quality. I would hope that the existing players would know those guys are proven so have earnt their salary, and that its what they can aspire to get via new contracts if they can make the step up.hallamblue wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 8:39 pmI’m wondering how the Club will manage the vast discrepancy in wages between the current first team and those higher quality players in coming.
Its going to be really challening though as alot of players we might want to targer on a big bucks and that makes them hard to shift as many aren't really worth that, look at Leeds as the example lower down, but many players on the fringes of bigger premier league clubs are still on very hefty wages.
If it was upto me i'd be trying to get players on a sensible fee and maybe upfront their salary via a signing bonus, ie give them a few million to ensure they then take a lower salary.

I’m sure it will be a humbling experience for many of the players, but their stock will only rise if we avoid relegationhallamblue wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 8:39 pmI’m wondering how the Club will manage the vast discrepancy in wages between the current first team and those higher quality players in coming.

The link has been around for a while now and when first published it was a straight double purchase with striker Eddie Nketiah. To be honest I’d tske either or both as long as they fit the profile of player McKenna is looking for.

Anyone else seen the Ollie McBurnie link ? I actually wouldn't be against this, a tall powerful striker with 3 years prem experience, 28 years old and his contract soon to expire.

We are very unlikely to get a prolific goal scorer so hopefully the goals will come the same way as the last two seasons but the defence is going to have to be much stronger.

I am expecting another striker, without one we'll struggle big time.

Agree on all that, getting a proven PL goalscorer is a tall ask, every team wants that and not all of them have one.
Not sure on OMB - prob a good champ striker but hasn't really done much at this level. Nketieh would be unreal signing, but probably coverted by many clubs.

Interesting to see that Sarmiento was playing footy at the goals complex in Ipswich a couple of nights ago.

Ryan Sessegnon it's seems Town are looking and he's a free, good player but injury prone.

He had a hamstring tear repaired via operation only last month I’ve read somewhere ( not twtd)… so that’s another lengthy rehab job if true.

I've seen Joe Rodon's name mentioned, now that is one CB I would happily see here, doesn't look like Leeds will be able to keep him on loan, Spurs won't play him so he would be available you would think.

Now that the KM saga is over when does Batistuta sign on the dotted line?

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
I know Ashton loves a signing! I just hope we are wise with the money, the first year is the most important due to the lower wage bill we have as it gives us a lot of money to play with, it’s vital we spend it wisely.
- not to overpay
- not to ruin the way structure too much
- not to overspend and have issues if we go down
- not to rip up the whole squad and lose that bond we have with some of the players
- ensure we bring in commited players who won’t all act up if we went down, like the Leeds lot
I’m sure the club will be aware of all this and careful etc. it’s going to be so challenging as other clubs will be competing with us for the same signings, hopefully our financial advantage helps us. I also think it might snowball, ie if we can get 1-2 quality playsrs in then others will follow, ie more belief they are going to a team who can stay up and kick on.
Going to be a long summer I feel as transfers won’t be easy! We may see some activity pre end of June due to the financial year end for clubs, then of slow down before picking up again towards deadline day.

Yep I think MA will be sensible in his approach and Kieran will work hand in hand with him to strengthen without breaking the squad. It’s exciting times for ITFC!

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
Town are reported to have stepped up their interest in signing former loanee Omari Hutchinson on a permanent basis from Chelsea.
The 20-year-old was a key man during the Blues’ Championship promotion campaign, carrying off the club’s Young Player of the Year award.
Now, according to The Guardian, Town have “accelerated” their interest in bringing Hutchinson back to Portman Road via a deal which could eventually total £20 million, although much of that is likely to be the result of milestone clauses and other top ups.
The Blues are expected to face opposition for Hutchinson’s signature from Bundesliga Stuttgart, who are in next season’s Champions League, while a number of other top European clubs were impressed by the Jamaica international’s form while at Portman Road.
Whether Chelsea will be willing to sell remains to be seen with incoming manager Enzo Maresca set to assess the Stamford Bridge squad.
Earlier this week, the West Londoners took up an option to extend Hutchinson’s contract until the summer of 2026, while he has been named in the Jamaica squad for their CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers next month.
Another former Town loanee, Jeremy Sarmiento, who was spotted playing football at Goals in Ipswich on Monday evening, has been named in the Ecuador squad for their CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers.

I’m not sure Maresca will sanction a permanent move for Omari.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
I doubt he gets much of a say, Chelsea have FIFTY ONE senior players on their books. They have a model of buying young players, loaning them out, selling off some. I believe the club structure is 'modern' in the sense the sporting director and such do the player trading and the manager is just the coach. I believe one of the reasons Poch left was he didn't have much say at all in who they sign or sell.
So really it will come down to if Chelsea want to sell, they do have players of value to sell but some are on good wages, Lukaku and Ziyech are coming back off loan for example.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
I hear a lot of PL clubs now have to sell / offload players before they can buy, is that right? So it’s a buyers market ( prices drop), if s lot of players are being hawked about on the transfer market … could work out well for us. Leicester have problems to sort out. Not sure how Saints are fixed financially as the other newly promoted club. And did I read somewhere Forest are having sell, sell, sell ?! No wonder Ashton looks knackered right now poor sod is probably working ridiculous hours to get deals done.

Chelsea looking to sell Hutchinson at around £25 million
I saw today I know he's a prized asset but not at that price but I do think we should put a strong bid in for him or push for another loan period I'm sure Kieran will ask Mark Ashton to pursue his signing

Yeah I’ve mentioned this a few times - the end of financial year for football clubs is end of June. Ie each year of the three year rolling FFP ends June 30th.hallamblue wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 10:53 pmI hear a lot of PL clubs now have to sell / offload players before they can buy, is that right?
