Qualified for stage II at the top of the group, survived a couple of potentially tricky opponents, have eased into the competition now, have blooded a couple of the promising youngsters (Mainoo & Palmer). For sure it wasn't pretty but I think we'll see quite different style now that our opponents won't park the bus and just hope for a point as has happened mostly up to now.
Imagine it will be Netherlands up next so let's see how this game goes before judging. If we make it to the Final again (and with most of the big names in the other half of the draw now this is not OOTQ) I don't think anyone will care about the qualifying games. It's what we used to admire so much about the Italy of old in world cups right? Effective and boring group games then flowering in the knockouts.
Let's see if we have it within us to flower too. Surely the jury has no right to make a verdict on that yet.
As for throwing litter at Southgate and the team, I don't have adequate words to describe my disgust. It's balmy weather here in Central Europe at the moment, so I just assume it's down to that and copious amounts of excellent German Kolsch. How short people's memories are and how quickly their expectations become entitlement.
