The fixture list is out so it must be the ridiculously early prediction season already.
Here's a bit I cut out of a forum discussion on our prospects this season:
So the last 5 seasons, 15 promoted teams finishing position in their first season:
Luton: 18th
Burnley: 19th
Sheff Utd: 20th
Fulham: 10th
Bournemouth: 15th
Forest: 16th
Brentford: 13th
Watford: 19th
Norwich: 20th
Leeds: 9th
Fulham: 18th
West Brom: 19th
Sheff Utd: 9th
Villa: 17th
Norwich: 20th
Mean finish: 16th Median finish: 18th/19th Mode finish: 18th
Just over half (8/15) get relegated.
There was 1 season where all 3 got relegated, 2 seasons where 2 got relegated, 1 season where 1 got relegated and 1 season where 0 got relegated.
Two teams finished 9th, one finished 10th, and one finished 13th. The other 11 teams were in the bottom 5.
Though it's only fair to ignore the Norwich results as they clearly weren't trying.
Last season I reckoned we'd finish 10th (as accurate as usual), so I reckon this year we'll finish 10th.

Too early to say. Let’s do a poll when we see who we have signed. We need 7-9 players so it’ll really depend who we get.
I’d snap your hand off for 17th now!
Also depends which clubs get points deductions and what those are. I’m struggling to see the 3 teams who will go down without a fight - especially now Leicester have appointed cooper who I rate over their previous manager.

With Kieran McKenna as manager there’s every chance we’ll stay up.
As for that lot up the A140, we’re not allowed to mention them on this forum apparently, so no comment , but hope they get relegated AGAIN the tossas!

We've finished 2nd for two years in a row, so isn't that the obvious choice??

Just imagine if we had a half decent manager, it then could have been 2 titles.

That would be so disappointing.

I mentioned them once but I think I got away with it.

Prior to any signings being made, I'm making a prediction of 15th place. First season back in the top flight and a chance at a second season to further consolidate would be an ok return in my eyes.

‘Ok’ - I’d be thrilled with 15th!
Who do we think will struggle this year? It’s hard to see any really weak sides? Everton maybe if they lose some of their better players, Leicester/Saints, maybe Brentford?
Wolves?

Leicester with their change of manager as well as any points deduction I can see struggling. Wolves and possibly Fulham.
Could Brighton's bubble finally burst?

Over the season I think we will be a match for Leicester, Southampton, Forest, Everton, Bournemouth, Brighton, Brentford, Fulham, Everton and Wolves, that's half the division and with probable points deductions and the McKenna effect I am confident we'll finish above at least 5 of them.

agreed - I don't see why we can't finish mid table or just below, as long as we get the recruitment right

Sorry Rossi....., cannot continue on without addressing the elephant in the room. Is that a wig or have you actually grown your hair?
Edit: Apologies to Number 9 if he is lurking, or to any other name he may be going under now ---->> For thread hijacking as per usual. But need to know. Rossi had the same prof pic for YEARS ---->> and the new pic needs "non wig" clarification.

Yeah I'd agree with that. As we are now that is. By which I mean anticipating at least 4 quality additions

Yep, it is actually me and the picture was taken 3 days ago. The previous one was around 10 years old, and the only period in more than 50 years when it has been short. All my own hair, and not a grey one in sight - not bad for an old b@stard even if I say it myself.

When you put it like that it makes me feel better, I guess we just need some of the teams to have a bad season - be unstable etc. it just scares me when I look at the squads of even the lower teams! I think it’s compounded as we don’t know the level of signings we will make.

Year ends in a 5 so we're on for a good season. Believe someone mentioned can't really provide a judgment as players may leave or come in before start of first game and we don't know how exactly the playing roster will resemble once we're underway and progressing through weeks thereafter
Don't believe we'll suffer a relegation, European places appear feasible but slim. Suppose the club name will find itself in or around 12th place by final game. Some will be underwhelmed, some view it a celebrated success. Rival fans or "professional" pundits insisting we'll fall back in to the second league at a first attempt shall or should be proved incorrect.

With our current squad I’d say we stand little chance of staying up, however if Ashton and McKenna can find and acquire the players they need I have every confidence in them doing enough to avoid relegation with or without the help of clubs getting points deduction’s.
