Town are reported to be eyeing a move for free agent Benin international striker Steve Mounié. Wed Jul 3rd 14:14 2
Another rumour but at 29 years I don't believe this.
He has been playing top level for a number of years.
Not saying he is a good or bad signing if there is anything in it at all but I suspect this is the type of player that McKenna will be adding along with top level Championship players

I don't think sell on would be an issue when he's a free agent.
Paul Goddard was 32 in the first year of Premiership and he was class.
30 wouldn't be an issue for me if your dealing with top class pro who looked after himself.

No issue with older players coming if they are free agents or such, I'm sure the club feels the same.
Agree this guy might not be good enough though.

Must admit......, would prefer Stewart Goddard rather than that Benin guy.

I did not realise he was a free but they can want a big signing on fee, it seems our usual way of surprise signing of players is over now which is a pity.

They’ll still be the odd surprise - but the media attention now we are premier league is amplified so makes it harder.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
Being too often busy it's not always possible to keep track of dealings at the club but believe we've actually signed Hutchinson on a proper for something around 20 million. He's now a confirmed player not just a loan asset. First instinct, how did we get from nearly relegated to League Two
and on the verge of oblivion with Evans to paying fees like that in such a relative short space of time. Realize clubs come on leaps and bounds and got a tendency to pick and improve but what we just did so soon after disaster, it's pleasing to read but kind of bizarre with it.
Still hope maybe Smodzics from Blackburn comes available. You got a proven goalscorer there who could really add value to our existing squad and would probably jump at the chance to move up a level now we're promoted but either they won't allow him out or McKenna simply overlooks him or doesn't have plans for a name like that. As an enthusiast and viewer of the SPL say again Shankland or Mivoski are very good players and can contribute greatly in attack. Fact lost on many as they simply won't be aware or don't focus on such areas. Would they settle in the top league of England from North of the Border remains open to question.

It's great news but we really do need defensive additions now too.

Dont get sucked in by a YouTube video - most players look amazing from them.hallamblue wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2024 6:14 pmOMG he’s so good this kid. Very good technical abilities snd has excellent upper body strength on the ball. Complete bag of tricks up his sleeve, this kid!

I do believe he is decent and wanted by a few clubs though, I don’t recall him destroying the league last season but could be good business - but always a risk at such a price. It’s the market we are in now as established decent prem players are going to be double that.
My biggest positive is we have a manager who can improve players

This story is taken from BBC.Cabanas Blue wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2024 5:00 pmhttps://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-new ... nced-talks
I hope we can get Jacob Greaves as well.
So stay calm and let's see what happens. Don't get overexcited because:
1. It is from BBC.
2. It is from Nick Mashiter who is a Norwich fan.
Don't believe any single word from BBC. If I see an official announcement from either ITFC official website or Fabrizio Romano on X then it'll be true.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
Thing is the players we are recruiting are in their very early twenties. They will improve under this set at Town and their value almost certainly to ruse possibly even double. If you look at it from a purely business sense, this is excellent asset acquisition and increasing returns isn’t it. Plus, these players ( it seems), can play a bit!
Town’s stock has risen exponentially it seems over the last three years. We are unrecognisable from the club that lost away to Barrow in the FA Cup just 3 seasons ago. Players now WANT to come here.
Who’d have thought that would have happened.

Sarmiento not likely to return:
Despite reports that Ipswich would have the option to bring him back for another loan spell if they were promoted to the Premier League, Sarmiento’s father, Leonel, has claimed that his preference is to remain with the Seagulls, although there’s interest from La Liga and Bundesliga clubs.

Likely to be as third choice keeper to allow Slicker to go out on loan. Possibly with some coaching responsibilities.
David Martin joining from Southend. by SitfcB 4 Jul 8:28
Was in the background of a picture Al-Hamadi posted yesterday.
Assume he’ll be third choice?

He’s in his 40’s now, but would anyone here mind Pepe being signed for coming season?
We’re not signing him but wanted to ask people’s views.
Tbh he looks like he’d take the PL in his stride right now…..
