I think you’ve misread it, that clause will expire once he signs for us. You can’t pass a clause on.
It was to highlight the fact villa can’t buy him for £15m as they aren’t in the same league as hull, so the clause is not able to be activated even if they wanted to.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
These kids we're bringing in i.e. Philogene and Delap, can't say ever heard of them or just can't recognize the names involved. There was a Delap at Southampton years back and thought for a moment that's who we were after but instead some player from Manchester you just can't place. Believe we're paying out around 40 million for the two which is kind of bizarre to see as we're just not used to spending such volume of money.
All right it's pleasing if not encouraging to see we're a part of big spenders now but so soon after almost falling into League Two and oblivion with Marcus Evans, it's all a bit much to take in maybe. What with McKenna staying on for another four years - he won't however - and new players coming in and some of the dead weight being moved on we're arguably being equipped for a substantial attempt at the EPL from August. There's got to be reason for optimism ahead.

You are thinking of his Dad Rory Delap .arana peligrosa wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 1:05 amDelap, can't say ever heard of them or just can't recognize the names involved. Sounds like Villa have activated the matching rights clause for JP. If Hull receive higher bids from elsewhere, Villa have to decide whether they want to stay in the process. If it turns into a bidding war think we should just walk away.

I've just seen that the player needs to say I'm signing for Ipswich if not we should just walk away, I'm pissed off with this nowShed on tour wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 10:57 amSounds like Villa have activated the matching rights clause for JP. I don't see how that can be correct as the clause clearly states "if Hull are promoted to the Premier League"

A guy posted a copy of it on the Everton forum, also if you Google it it's quoted as such all over the place, villa fans have even mentioned it on their forum so it appears to be the case yes.

Jaden;
Hmm, go back to a club who weren't prepared to allow you to develop within their own system? What makes you think they're going to help you develop anymore if you rejoin them? Are you going to be a regular starter?
KM already has a pedigree in his short career for improving players - it's often overlooked how much Burgess has improved! He was never a Championship player when he joined us in L1. Omari only commanded a big fee (sadly
) because of KM developing him. You have the potential to be adored by the Town faithful so make us your new home!

Add to that Villa have a plethora of good wide talent, he'll be well down the pecking order again, what worries me is tge bad advice he'll no doubt receive as his agent appears to be a bit of a despot

I had a quick look at the Villa forum and it seems they have a 30% sell on so they would pay around 13 million so it's up to the player who wanted to leave them to get more playing time, let's hope he still does.

Strangely enough Man City have inserted a buy back clause in the Liam Delap transfer too, gonna be the norm now.

Alleged photographs at both Barcelona and Everton's training ground trying to paint a picture of more interest! I get an agent looking to get his player the best deal possible, you'd expect that, but going to that type of length (if there's any truth in anything we read these days!!) is out of order in my eyes.

I wonder if this combined bid falls through if it will affect the Greaves signing in any way? Obviously Hull were happy with the original bid for the two, but if it then turns out that Greaves is the only one coming whether they will then try and get more for him than what they valued him at in a combined deal?

I think Greaves is a done deal regardless of Philogean. They probably just want to announce both at the same time.Shed on tour wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 12:44 pmI wonder if this combined bid falls through if it will affect the Greaves signing in any way? I actually dislike EVERYTHING about the Premier League, not seen a single positive since winning promotion.

Hi , just to give you a little context on this, Philogene was heavily involved in our pre-season games last summer and Emery was very impressed by him and really wanted to keep him for last season. The player himself expressed the desire to leave and get guaranteed minutes somewhere else and so the club decided to allow him to leave.AzzurroMark wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 12:13 pmJaden;

What is the general consensus of opinion among Villa fans as to where this is heading ?FriendlyVillan wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 1:35 pmHi , just to give you a little context on this, Philogene was heavily involved in our pre-season games last summer and Emery was very impressed by him and really wanted to keep him for last season. Not much has changed from last season, maybe it's tougher for him to get in now. When he left. Most of us were really concerned about Bailey being so poor but he really turned it around . For me the player himself should be looking at Ipswich as a far more effective option to take that next step, but we all know these guys have a lot of voices in their ears that really don't care about the player themselves

Good input, thank you. I wonder if the player will see himself having the same issue if he goes back there, i.e lack of minutes.FriendlyVillan wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 1:35 pmHi , just to give you a little context on this, Philogene was heavily involved in our pre-season games last summer and Emery was very impressed by him and really wanted to keep him for last season. (i.e villa can activate the clause but that doesn't mean the player has to agree terms, he could still turn down villa).

To the tune of Billie Jean.......
He said that his name is Philogene and he's caused a scene
Five teams heads turned with eyes that dreamed of being the one
But the kid may not be the one.
Ashton clearly told him, be careful what you do
And don't go around breaking Town fans hearts
And kieran also told him be careful of who you love
And be careful of what you do 'cause Villa don't tell the truth
Hey hey hey
Philogene is not our guy.......
