That’s how it is. Not many clubs have made signings - and remember the window is open until the end of August.

Of course we want players in and need more than most clubs, it’s frustrating these latest signings are dragging on etc but pre season has only just started

Shame,what a waste.
100% agree with you. No offence intend to the Scottish 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 contingent on TB’s, but that move will hardly be career enhancing will it.

Maybe Town didn’t go back in for him though? 🤷‍♀️

We had an option on him, clearly didn't take it.

I think due to the max 2 loans from domestic clubs we are being careful with using those slots up.

Well…….. he could do an Ivan Sproule and score a hatrick in a 3-0 win @ Ibrox.

But other than doing anything special in those games v Old Firm, he’ll go largely unnoticed.

McDairmid Park on a soggy, cold Tuesday night in December, Jeremy?! Think about those times.

We still have another one-year loan option on Sarmiento so why don't we get it actioned, evidently his dad said he had other clubs bidding for his son, yeh Aberdeen is really pushing the boat out, So stop pissing around Jeremy you know you love it here tell your dad to stop interfering in your career and just call KM and tell him you want to play premiership football here at Ipswich.
If that’s true, Ash , (dad interfering) then I agree. Let him decide his future.

…… And i know people will maybe disagree, but I think 🎼JEREMY SARMIENTO🎼 would thrive in the EPL. It’ll be a classic case of a player rising in level to his surroundings. He is a very good player. With “better” around him facing better challenges, I reckon he’d thrive.

Aberdeen? Nope. BAD move if comes to fruition.

And so it goes on....
Latest from Sky Sports News' Dharmesh Sheth, Lyall Thomas, Adrian Kajumba:

Ipswich are finalising deals for Manchester City forward Liam Delap and Hull City defender Jacob Greaves.

The deal for Delap is worth £20m with Manchester City inserting a 20 per cent sell-on while the fee for Greaves is £15m.

Formal announcements to confirm their arrivals at Portman Road are expected soon.

Initially, Ipswich were working on a double deal worth around £35m for Greaves and his Hull team-mate, winger Jaden Philogene.

But the move for Philogene now looks in doubt after Aston Villa triggered a matching rights option they had after selling the 22-year-old to Hull last summer.

Talks are continuing today in an attempt to find a solution, with Philogene’s priority being game time.

The Hull Daily Mail reports that Philogene is at Hull's pre-season camp in Riva although not training with the main group.

I think Sarmiento always looked better than he actually was. I don't think he'd help us much in the Prem.

I haven't seen enough of Philogene personally to make a huge judgement, but if a player doesn't want 100% to be here and doesn't completely buy in to what we're offering him and what we showed last season, then we're best off looking elsewhere anyway.

I've read from Hull supporters, that Philogene is not good enough for the premiership.Good news about Greaves.

Some of the comments on here about the time taken to complete a deal to sign players or indeed to tie McKenna down a few weeks ago are simply unreal. These are mega deal contracts and take time to protect both parties. They also have the added barrier of having a players Agent involved who will be looking after his own interests in addition to the players. In the case of Jaden Philogene, it’s only 9 days since we first heard of our interest in this player. To put things into perspective it took me longer than that to negotiate my last employment contract with my employer for an annual salary worth less than a couple of weeks of this players wages. We also have to bear in mind that the Agent will also be dealing with offers from Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Everton and maybe a host of others. Meanwhile the player is carrying on with his life as best as normal as he can.
Why we think he should run at ours of anyone else’s pace is beyond me. This decision could prove to be the biggest decision he ever makes in his life, so getting it right is very important and he deserves time to get it right. I think sometimes we need to appreciate this rather than spout on about the players lack of interest just a few days after he heard of the job offer for the first time.

The question I've been asking myself all along is is this guy any better than Sarmiento? Questionable, and thankfully it's Greaves we've secured as he was always the most important for me, we know he actually wants to be here.

Yes Mike Greaves was the important one, I hope Philogene just warms the bench.

They are big decisions but in todays world, I tend to go along with Mike on this……. Just too damn long and its not even down to the player himself. Its the borderline Monty Python type contracts and clauses.

Ipswich: “Join us, Jaden. Its a good deal.”
JP: “Yep, it is. I will.”
Hull: “Yep, but we get a buy back clause if we’re promoted.”
Ipswich: “But, he’ll be an Ipswich player 🤷‍♂️
Villa: “Yeah but wait, what about the buy back clause from Hull if he wanted away to a promoted team?”
Hull: “Yes but that’s only if he played x amount of games……..”
Stoke: “WAIT WAIT WAIT, hold on. What about our loan clauses?”
Hull: “Fk off Stoke, they dont exist.”
Stoke: “Oh right, sorry, Carry on.”
Cardiff: “Yeah, but you had a point though Stoke because we’ve got a few clauses written……”
Hull: “Sorry to cut in here Cardiff, but nope, you don’t either. Zero clauses.”
Villa: “Hull, you seem to be doing all the talking here about clauses but it appears you didn’t read the original clause.”
Hull: “The clause was in section 6 thousand 4 hundred and eighty eight, paragraph 2 hundred and sixty, lines 15 through to 20, basically saying that he is a Hull player for 2 years but if a club within 107 miles of the Hulls main Post Office gets promoted to the Premier League then the player can apply for transfer providing Villa did not finish below 8th in the previous season. Its all there in the clause. You miss it?”
Ipswich: “Oh my fkn god. I missed that as well. I am sh*t at my job.”
Bristol City fan: “AH HAAA!! I KNEW IT!!!

It's not sour grapes but from everything we have been led to believe by some of the best football reporters in the business he was coming here, wasn't interested in Villa cus he wants to play regularly and that's why he left in the first place, we then got told he was unsure but the decision would be left to him, in a way I'm glad he's not coming, I just think decisions may have been made for the wrong reasons, we've wasted enough time on this and there are others out there equally as good, how about Clarke from Sunderland, Rak-Sakyi from Palace or even a certain Sarmiento?

Clarke scored 15 goals last season in a poor Sunderland side he would be my choice but I believe he cost them 15 million so he would be expensive that's if they would sell.

For what it’s worth I’ve just copied this from ITFC Supporters Club (Official) Facebook page;

TRANSFER SPECULATION
Hi everyone, we've seen and heard a whole raft of information, some of it conflicting, about the transfer of one of our supposed transfer targets.
As you know, we have a no speculation policy on here but Ive seen some legitimate questions about it, and read some pretty disparaging things about the boy himself which I believe to be unfair.
As things are now being widely reported, when he left his former club his contract of sale included his former club the right to buy him back, and also agreed the terms of his return contract. The selling club have now decided to invoke those rights.
This does not mean the boy has changed his mind, has wasted our time nor has he fallen under the spell of his agent. If what is being widely reported is true, he simply has to accept his obligation and has no choice in the matter. It is therefore unfair to be critical.
Im turning comments off on this post because i think it's better to draw a line under it and focus on the players we hope WILL be arriving
COYB

I guess this sums thing up and as said move on.

Not the player I would have wanted but at 6 million that would be a steal.

Makes Zero sense! How can he ‘have to accept it’ unless there is some agreement of contract ALREADY in the clause?! Surely it just means villa can speak to the player - he doesn’t have to agree to terms offered by them? I really don’t understand this….?

Sorry Andy but I find that complete rubbish tbh, if he had said he didn't want to sign for Villa it wouldn't happen, this whole episode is a sham with loads of bull being spoken.

Thank you for that Andy. Social media and the way we react to it has so much to answer for. Same as with the McKenna saga, we have to learn to listen to what is coming out of our club, something MA has always stated. Of course all of us want to be first to break the latest rumours but sadly much of the time it ends up leaving us with a bitter taste in the mouth and feelings of resentment towards some of the individuals involved.
There will be those who argue that about the lack of information coming from within the club or once reliable local 'in the know' journalists, but sometimes I think (when it comes to transfer news) I preferred the pre-mobile phone days when the first you'd know was reading it in the local newspaper or TV. I guess even in those days you could've believed that Batistuta was Portman Road bound, but at least there was none of this BS which drags on and on and on these days!
